What is Your Small Pleasures?

I've seen previous posts where people ask what they love most in the world(our kids...our husbands....chocolate...ect), but I don't remember seeing anything about the simple things in life. So I thought I'd start one...or start one again if there is one out there already.

Mine I relished last night. Warm sheets out of the dryer with an abudant smell of Downey. A nice hot bath and they climbing into clean tight sheets! I hate it when my sheets get all bunched up! Love that "AHHH moment" when slipping into a nice comfy bed!

So what is the simple things in life that give you great pleasure?

An hour alone in the house, with NOBODY HOME

A nice leisurely taken bubble bath

Sitting outside in the swing and just listening to the sounds of nature.

I have a very shy, very sweet, scaredy cat. Of the four I have she is the one who stays away because she is deathly shy. Every morning she meows at my door and I let her in BY HERSELF. She climbs up on my chest and just purrrrrrs, as if she was the only kitty in the family. She's like holding a very scared baby who you know you can protect. I realize that she depends on me like I depend on God... what a wonderful feeling that you can comfort something so shy and so sweet. That is my small pleasure.

Opening all the windows in the house so I can feel the breeze blow through.

Sitting on the balcony, glass of wine in hand, watching the lights of the city.

I get lost in thought, wondering where the people are going and where they are from, and thinking of how nice it would be to be going somewhere myself.

pitter patter of rain on our sky lights
P&Q after a long day with day care kiddies
silk PJ's
a rose from DH for no reason
holding hands with my soul mate of 42 yrs
a grand's hug & hearing I love you Nana
last but not lease, a prayer

This is going to sound sooo nutty. DH and I go to EPCOT most week-ends when the weather isn't too hot. I begin thinking about the upcoming trip a day or two before and I get giddy when I think about the chocolate I'll get when we visit Germany at the World Showcase. I buy a large bar and sit at one of the tables outside the shop and eat the entire thing without uttering a word till I'm through. Ahhhh...

Fresh strawberries at the strawberry stand on the side of the road. Driving home with a cool breeze with a hint of strawberry in the air....ahhhhhh

I do that, too.

I actually have lots of small pleasures and the older I get, it seems that those are the ones that really matter.

--I love listening to my favorite radio station on the way to work in the morning. They are so witty and funny and really are a great way to start the day
--watching my ds get a base hit or making an exceptional play at second base
--that first sip of coffee in the morning
--a hot shower on a cold New England winter day
--talking to my 3 year old niece on the phone when she asks when she can "come ovah"
--having lunch with my good friend at work on Monday and Wednesday
--ordering take out on Fridays
--the first signs of spring after a looooong winter

warm cookies

milk from the local farm

when DH brings the kids downstairs in the morning without waking me up--this one is rare but quite fantastic!

quiet! because in a family of five that is hard to come by!!
