I remember two more - Moon Pies and root beer Kool-Aid. Moon Pies aren't as good as they used to be, and Kool-Aid doesn't make root beer flavor anymore.

Otter Pops. They were something like 25 cents for a single one at the store around the corner, so good on a hot day.

Growing up, Friday was our treat night, and we were allowed one small glass of Coke, but mostly made swamp water (mix of several soft drinks) and a small bowl of chips.

Soda. We never got soda unless we went out to eat which was only a few times a year (and usually to Pizza Hut so I could use my free book it coupon) or on holidays. So it was a real treat.

We never buy the pre-made stuff. But come Christmas everyone expects me to have a big container of homemade chex mix on the counter. I make big "take-home" bags for each family and now the grandkids want their own bag.

Mmm. Hostess suzy q's were a favorite of mine too! They changed the recipe a few years ago so they're gone forever.

Something I loved as a kid that I would never think to do now is peanut butter and brown sugar sandwiches!

Another vote for soda. We only had it when company was coming over, so it was a treat when I was young.

But ice cream is right up there too, especially soft serve. We didn’t go to a place serving soft serve very often.

2014, 2015, 2016 my boss gave me the same lack luster review. I actually compared the review forms to see if they were copied from the previous years. Too rushed/not detailed = need for improvement. The third year I said to my family, "If you had an employee who each year you asked to improve the same features wouldn't you just tell 'em to find another job?" Then 2017 we lost a major player in our office who I had given a lot of support so I knew much of the position. Suddenly I was so helpful where before I was so slow. Suddenly I could answer questions over the phone where before I was to direct them off to another staffer. 2018 and 2019 were staffing rollercoasters and 2020 brought CV19. They offered us a VSIP and I took it because I want off my roller-coaster. Bye.

One boss was intimidated because I was a smart woman. To make himself feel better, he told a vendor that he shouldn't have to be involved in this type of meeting, at his level, but since both me (CIO in all but title) and my Telecom Manager were not qualified to make telecom decisions, he needed to be there.

The funny thing is that it was a vendor that I had already told that we didn't want to buy from them and they schmoozed my boss. We wanted to use Cisco, but this vendor spoke at a kindergarten level for him, but not at an intelligent level for me and the Telecom Mgr. Once we talked to that vendor's referrals, my boss was convinced that they were as rinky dink as we'd said and we were allowed to purchase Cisco.

He also told me that it angered him that I was smarter than him.

He's the reason I left that company.
