What is your most ridiculously easy dish that draws raves?

Pink Lemonade Pie

We change it to a package of koolaid, and only one cool whip. It works with orange, lemon, lime, etc. No one believes it is koolaid pie!

Since it's soup time!

Here's one of my fav soups - it's kind of like Egg Drop Soup. It does take a little work ;) but not much.

Spinach Stracciatella soup

2 cups water
3 cups chicken broth
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 package frozen chopped spinach (not thawed)
1 oz finely grated Parmigiano (about 1/2 cup) plus additional for serving just put on top
2 large eggs, beaten

I also add some chopped garlic to taste (who cares if you have garlic breath :upsidedow )

Heat water with broth, salt, and pepper in a 2- to 2 1/2-quart saucepan over moderate heat until hot. Stir in frozen spinach and cheese and simmer, covered, stirring occasionally, until spinach is just tender, about 8 minutes.
Add beaten eggs in a slow, steady stream, stirring constantly.

I have a carrot cake recipe that uses baby food carrots instead of shredded carrots (and your accompanying blood and skin). EVERYONE raves about. I've also gotten lots of requests for 'my' cookie recipe -- it's the cake mix cookie recipe on the side of the Pillsbury cake mix box. Just use a cake mix and add in anything you want. It's a quick and easy way to make a ton of different cookies for a bake sale or Xmas. One year I made 16 different kinds of cookies in one afternoon just by varying the mix-ins.

Beer bread (made this just last night)

3 cups self rising flour
1/2 cup sugar
1 beer

Mix and put in greased loaf pan. Bake at 350 for 45 minutes. Drizzle with melted butter and bake for another 10 minutes or so.

Here's a delicious half-hour dinner I just made on Monday.

Grill 2 or 3 boneless skinless chicken breasts in a little EVOO (I sprinkle on some Weber's Montreal Steak Seasoning). While that is cooking, boil water, then cook 1/2 box of fettucini. After the pasta has cooked for about 5 minutes, dump into the boiling water 2 or 3 cups of broccoli florets (the pasta and broccoli should be done at approx. the same time).
Drain pasta/broccoli. Cut up cooked chicken into cubes, then add 1 can reduced fat cream of mushroom soup, 1/2 cup milk, 1 tbsp. dried chopped onion, 1/2 cup reduced fat shredded cheddar, and pasta/broccoli. Toss together, then let simmer until bubbly. DH loved it!

My DDIL just asked for this recipe. It's for in the crockpot, but it's quick initially to start up.

French Onion Soup

4-5 large Vidalia onions (or other sweet onion), sliced thin

1/2 cube butter

4 cans Beef Broth

1/2 cup of any wine or sherry

Toasted sourdough or french bread slices

Alpine lace cheese (or any swiss)

Saute the onions in the butter. Transfer to the crockpot, add the broth and wine. Simmer all day.

To serve, pour soup into oven-safe wide-mouth large cup or soup bowl. Add a slice of the toast and top with the cheese. Broil long enough to melt the cheese.

Chocolate Hershey Bar Pie
1 Graham Cracker Crust
1 Lg. Hershey bar with almonds
1 8oz. container cool whip (leave mostly frozen)

Melt the chocolate bar in the microwave or over a double boiler. Pour melted chocolate into Cool Whip and stir until blended. Pour into Crust and refrigerate.
YUM!!!!

The chocolate starts to freeze a little as it hits the Cool Whip so you have a creamy chocolate pie with little bits of chocolate and almonds.:lovestruc

Crockpot Chicken (I may have gotten this recipe from a Diser):rolleyes1

I use any chicken pieces that are on sale that week. Mostly legs & thighs.
Put them in the crockpot and pour a large bottle of French salad dressing over the top.
Cook on low all day. YUM!!!
The meat just falls off the bones. I've also used a spicy Catalina type dressing with good luck.

The 2 ingredient dessert.....

1 box Nabisco Famous Chocolate wafer cookies
Whipped cream (best) or Cool Whip

Take a cookie, put a layer of wc or cw on it, stack another cookie on top, and keep layering like that until you have a large enough log for however many people you need to serve. Cover the entire log with wc or cw, and if you really want to go crazy, you can even shake some chocolate chips on top. Let sit overnight in refrigerator so the cookies soften, and slice it diagonally. It looks like a black and white striped cake and it is delicious.

A real simple dessert that you can make look very elegant with chocolate curls on it as well. People are amazed when you tell them how simple it really is!

I am mesmerized by this idea. I have never seen those cookies though. What does the package look like? Is it just a single layer chocolate cookie, like a Vanilla Wafer, but not vanilla?

brown a pound of sausage
melt a block of velveeta
open a can of Rotel
pour a bag of tortilla chips in a bowl

Add first three together (you can put the rotel and cheese in a crock to melt and blend and add the browned sausage when it's mostly liquid), and eat with the last.

People go nuts over the stuff.

INGREDIENTS (Nutrition)
2 tablespoons butter, melted
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1/4 teaspoon ground red pepper
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
2 cups pecan halves
1 tablespoon chili powder

DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 300 degrees F (150 degrees C).
In a medium bowl, mix butter, Worcestershire sauce, red pepper, salt, and garlic powder. Stir in the pecans, and gently toss with chili powder to coat.
Spread coated pecans on a medium baking sheet, and cook 30 minutes in the preheated oven, stirring approximately every 10 minutes.

I use the pecans from Nutsonthenet and skip the salt.

This is easy:

Shrimp/Crab Cocktail Spread

Crab meat
***You can use both or one or the other
1 bottle cocktail sauce
1 block of cream cheese

Place cream cheese on a serving plate. Top with shrimp/crab. Pour cocktail sauce over the top.

Serve with crackers.

Oh MAN...I've only read the last page & it all sounds so good. This thread is a classic!

We used to beg my mother to make this cake. OMG - it is so good. But my mother used to make it with real whipped cream, the kind you make homemade .:lovestruc

Here's a pic I found::love:

I'm making a quiche tonight. It's quick and easy. Sounds more involved than it is. Never any leftovers. :) I usually use ham but tonight I'm using sausage. I pre-bake a premade deep dish pie shell, whisk about 5-6 eggs, add a splash of milk, add about 1/2 a cup of shredded cheddar, I steam some broccoli (and use the immersion blender with the broccoli until it's almost pureed) and add that to the mix, add the ham. Mix ingredients well. Pour into pie shell bake on 350 for about 30-40 min.. I put some more cheese on top about 5 min. before I take it out. Yummy! If the pie shell sides start to brown too much while baking, I put aluminum foil over them.
