What is your mode of transportation at WDW?

We have just been going to WDW for 2 years. We have rented a van each time because we take a trip up the Gulf Coast when we are there. We won't be driving up the Coast next year so I started to wonder if we should rent a car or not? We will be there at least 10 nights. We stay at the Polynesian and the monorail will get us to MK and Epcot. I thought we might stay at BC that way we can get to MGM taking the boat. That would leave taking the bus to AK. We don't really go anywhere else, but maybe AKL for dinner. All of the other places we would be able to get to from where we are staying. We have 3 young kids so we need to rent a minivan to fit all of are stuff into. We spent $520(?) for a 2 week rental last year. I just don't know if it is worth spending the extra money on or not?
I'm just curious what other people use to get around at WDW?

For all our other trips..all 11 of them we have driven down to Florida so we had our family car with us...This trip we are flying and we are renting a car, gotta have a car to get around, so our mode of transport is a ....car.....:) :) :)

We always get a rental car, as we like to stop at the store before and choose to go to Crossroads at least twice for dinner during our stay. There are some great deals out there for rental cars. Try mousesavers.com for tips and carwiz.com We just booked a week in April of 2002 with a compact car (only 3 of us) for 75.00 for the week. With 3 kids and 2 adults you could use at least a interm.or full size..check them out..Hope this helps..

We are VERY lazy when vacationing...we refuse to do any driving. We take a Happy Limo towncar to and from the airport to WDW. Once we are there, we let the Mouse's buses do the driving. The tranportation system is pretty good overall, although Caribbean Beach was AWFUL...45 minutes for a bus to the AK. The other hotels are much better. It always feels weird to return home after a week or two and to have to get in the car and drive to work the next morning.

we are renting a car for the first time this feb. on all our trips previously we have used wdw transp, mears or ttc. i think we will use the rental but i hope the use justifies the cost.

Gotta rent a car. It's very convenient, with all of the well-marked roads, etc. It's definitely a plus for the water parks. Heaven forbid one of the kids gets sick, do you really want to wait around for a bus, or taxi? Have a great time!

We fly down, then either take Tiffany or rent a car from National. We almost always stay at BW/BC/YC, so we walk to Epcot, usually walk to MGM or take the boat, drive to AK, and bus to MK.

We bus to PI so we can drink. We drive to other resorts, except the Contemporary where we usually take the bus to MK and walk over.

We drive to WDW from Ohio (18 hrs). Once we are there we don't move our car. I vote for the buses. Unless you plan on leaving Disney property. We usually don't. Sometimes the buses are really crowded at park closing but not having to fight that traffic if worth standing sometimes for me. You can always wait for the next bus if you don;t want to stand. At night they come really fast. Each time we have been there they are pretty efficient.

I hope this helps!

Have a great trip.

We've never rented a car at WDW, and have never missed having one. I like to be immersed in the magic.

We take TTC to/from the airport, and rely on buses the rest of the time. Last trip we took a taxi from Epcot one night because we didn't feel like waiting. I think with tip it was $10.
