LOL silly question I know !

How do you make your burgers?

I don't want to make fancy burgers , just a good basic burger.

I know it all comes down to the fat content? What kind of ground meat do you use?

I am not a huge burger fan but the best burgers I have ever had were hamburgers mixed with taco seasoning and grilled. I like them mixed with onion soup too.

My family loves the market fresh ground beef from Publix, it's all the trimmings mixed together. Yum. I add garlic and chopped onions, salt and pepper.

The last thing I want is a "gourmet" burger. Lean ground beef made into a patty of 1/2 pound or more grilled to taste and placed on a bun will do just fine. Individuals can add whatever condiments they desire after the burger is cooked. I've never understood why people need to get creative with simple perfection.

Exactly!

I'm not going to post the whole thing. But the final step is, "drive forward to the second window."

Sometimes we put seasonings, onions, or whatnot in them, especially if it's a really lean ground beef. But if I'm using 80/20 or something with a higher fat content, just salt and pepper or Montreal seasoning.

16% fat ground beef is what I use.
form into a patty, sprinkle with a bit of Lawry's Seasoning salt and grill. Voila, yummy, juicy burger

If I want "fancy" I will dice up raw bacon and mix it into the ground beef or top the grilled burger with some juicy hot pastrami

The bun can make all the difference, I like a chewy style roll with a crunchy crust, chewy inside or a fresh ciabatta roll - I get those at the bakery of the grocery store or Costco.

Too funny:rotfl2:!!!

I usually just add a little salt, pepper, and maybe some garlic powder to mine. Occasionally I will do some with chili powder and sauteed peppers and onions added to the meat mix. These are delicious!!!!

I always buy ground chuck. It has enough fat in it not to be too dry, or too much that you end up with a flaming mess on the grill!!!

We buy ours from Great Steaks. Most of their business is mail order but we're lucky that they have a store just a few blocks from our house.

DH and DD like to add some Canadian Steak Seasoning to theirs while they're cooking. I get the seasoning in a huge container from Sam's Club.

I was gonna say the same thing... I'm not a huge fan of burgers and most people as well as most restaurants make them way too big. I'll take a Jr Bacon Cheeseburger over anyone else's burger any day :)

Not much help, I know. But now I want one.

My DH makes me some awesome stuffed burgers..

He flattens out the burger patty, then in the middle puts shredded cheese, bacon bits and some salt and pepper. He then fold the burger closed and forms it into a nice patty..

Its ooey gooey and I get bacon and cheese in EVERY bite!

Because plain ground beef to many of us is not simple perfection. :confused3

Cavendar's Greek Seasoning - made in Harrison, Arkansas. LOL I don't think we are know for our Greek population, but Cavendar's is perfect on a burger.

Thanks for the tip! I love Cavendar's Greek seasoning on chicken but had never thought about trying it on burgers. I will do that tomorrow.

I usually use home grown grass fed ground beef (goood) and sprinkle both sides with Smokey Mesquite seasoning, and grill. If you start with great beef you won't need to spice it up very much. DH likes his with cheese. I don't. :)

You folks are missing the absolute number 1 ingredient to a good burger....

Grab a tomato out of the garden and slice it into about 4-5 thick slices. Any more slices in it and they are too thin.

For a "good" burger, the garden tomato is a must have. My mouth is watering just thinking of this because I won't have tomatoes until August. Store bought tomatoes won't do. Even farmers market tomatoes won't do. They are still mass produced in big fields. Nothing will work but a tomato grown in your little backyard garden that probably has 8-12 plants.

I haven't made burgers since discovering a local drive through burger chain called "Cookout". Best burgers ever, and they have fantastic milk shakes. In fact, tomorrow I will be going down there to get a Cookout tray (cheddar style 1/4 pounder with watermelon milkshake) to go and head over to watch fireworks afterwards. Americana at its best! :thumbsup2

But last time I actually made burgers from scratch, I used Lipton's onion soup mix recipe for the burger patties and it came out great!

Not a big fan of burgers due to the occasional bit of bone or gristle...but when I do make 'em I use the old recipe from when I was a kid.
Extra Lean ground beef. Add 1/2 pkg of dry Onion Soup and 1/4 cup water to each pound of burger (use more or less soup mix depending on your personal taste).
Moosh it all together with your hands, form into patties and fry or grill.
No clue why but these burgers never have bone bits or gristle in them! LOL
