What is your favourite wine?

My fave is whatever one happens to have the big red Sainsbury's sticker saying "£2 off"! :rotfl:

I don't think I have what is called "a sophisticated palate" when it comes to wine- I love most whites but admit I can't tell the difference between a £1.99 bottle and a £20 one.....I do like seem to like Chardonnay- although this could be because it's named after a character in Footballers Wives.... ;)

I think it is the Character that is named after the wine :)

I like wine from New Zealand right now - Marlborough Riesling, or Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. Both available from Tesco, round about £6.99 a bottle so not the cheapest but often got some money off.

Another thumbs up for asti (my fav) but anything sweet and white, a bit like me really!!!!!!! LOL

Any nice crisp cold white wine, I used to drink red only, but can not touch it now, it makes me very poorly :goodvibes

Oooh now your talking,
With white its the Ernst and Jullo Gallo Californian White, full of apple and is really easy to drink and at £4 a bottle it dont stretch the finances much.
Red,
I really think the Mcguigans gold label (At Bargain Booze) is so tasty and bursting with fruit at the moment, they do a shiraz at 50p more but it is no better.

Also a big fan of Kumala Zenith from SA.
BUT
In general all i love all full bodied bodied reds. I discovered red wine late but boy am i making up for lost time....
I am sure there are some better expensive wines out there but so much is good for under a fiver why pay it????

I have a sweet tooth so really enjoy a good German Spatlese or Auslese :)

have you tried icewine Tim? its really sweet.

where do you get that from carolfoy?

A bottle of Buckfast in a brown paper bag round the back of the local park!! :thumbsup2 :drinking1 :drinking: party:

For a glass of red wine I absolutely love USA Vine Cliff Merlot when I can find it. I like white Chardonnay, but I am not so keen on ones with lots of oak - I prefer a really fruity vintage like Australian Mcleans Farm. DH and I had a bottle of Australian Sevenhill Reisling this evening, very dry but nice nevertheless.

Ha Ha, that so reminds me of when I lived in Scotland, I had never even heard of Buckfast (although its made fairly near me) and all the alkis and winos drank it - its FOUL!!! :rotfl2:
PS Ice wine is a real specialist thing, I had it first in Canada and its really sweet, apparently made from frozen grapes I have seen it around in a couple of specialist deli's and I think Virgin wines do it.

Hmm a thread about wine....mone of my favorite subects!
My favorite white is Blossom Hill, Red - im not that fussy but my favorite is Campo Viejo Rioja but it can be expensive. I tend to go to france once every 6 months or so and buy quite a lot as you save loads, althoug i always forget to adjust the tyre pressures in the car for all the weight of wine. Last time i got stopped by customs, im sure they thought i was an alcoholic as they kept asking "is all this for you?" ( i had my whole boot and back seat full!) - not good as i was only 20 lol.

Oh no it is far too sweet. I've only tried it once when I had a really bad cold. Heated it in the microwave, took one sip and promptly threw up. Didn't cure my cold but my stomach felt better :rotfl:

Lindemans Cawarra Shiraz Cabernet or Peter Lehmans Barossa Shiraz and Clancys Red. These are all fantastic red wines.
