Just wondering what is your favorite section to stay in while at SSR -- and why it is your favorite? We've only stayed in Congress Park, which was very nice but I'd like to try another location for our upcoming stay in October.

I realize that I'll probably be in the minority, but I really liked the Carousel area. It is the first place you come to when you enter the main entrance, and since we always rent a car, it was quick and easy for us to come and go. If we wanted to do something down at the main area, we would either walk (which we like to do anyway) or drive down there. It was also extremely quiet.

We've only stayed at SSR once but we were in the Grandstand section closest to the main building and pool. It was great! The kids could play in the grandstand pool/splash area but it was only a short walk over to the main area. It was also very quiet.

We really enjoyed the Grandstand section when we were there. The pool was awesome and it was the first bus stop so you knew you'd get a seat! It was also not too bad of a walk to the main pool & dining or to the water taxi (we spent a lot of time at DTD on that trip bcuz it was so convenient). We were very pleased with the Grandstand section. :thumbsup2

I voted Grandstand.
The first time I stayed there I requested (and got) Congress Park due to a friend's recommendation. This was based on the proximity to DTD and the views. I have stayed there three times since then all in the Grandstand. The primary reason is the buses. First pickup in the morning on the way to the park (before the bus gets too crowded) and first dropoff in the evening (when the bus is jammed and you can't wait to get out). It is also an easy walk to the pools and restaurants.

I also voted Grandstand. Very close to the main building & I would guess if you are right by the Grandstand pool you are closer to the main building than many in the Springs section. Like others have said, first bus stop is great & we loved the pool theme, the fact that it has a bar & drink station & there were usually plenty of seats available as opposed to the main pool.

Another vote for Grandstand.
- first on/off for the bus
- kids preferred the pool over the main pool
- not too far from the main bldg/pool/CS

I have stayed in Congress Park and the walk to DTD is great. BUT my all time favorite is the Springs. Close to everything and we could also see the main pool from our balcony. The buses were no problem. Always had a seat...

our favourite building is congress park close for walking to downtown
disney it is very quiet and the pool area is quieter than the main pool
but we are not there with small children if you have children you probably
would prefer an area closer to the main pool

Couldn't vote. My favorite section is Treehouses ;-)

So far, we can rule out the Paddock by experience and Carousel by observation. Hoping to try either Congress Park or Grandstand this fall.

I didn't vote since we have only stayed there once, for a quick 5 day trip, in a studio. We had a car this trip also. We were in the Paddock section. We were right next to the pool, just a short walk across the pond to the main pool, it was very quiet. The bus was what we expected - what takes so long is just getting out of SSR!!!

We are looking forward to exploring more of SSR in the future.

Congress Park then Springs, Paddocks, Grandstand and Carousel.

I like Congress Park. I love the closeness to DTD and the quite pool as well. If we want to go to the main pool it's less than a 5 minute walk.

We use to love the view however once the trees matured, there went the views!! We have been fortuate enough to "request" and actually receive the same unit several years in a row. And the last time we stayed at SSR, we expected this fantastic "view" of DTD and all we got were tree tops!! LOL...no big deal. We love the resort and love the location on the property. :thumbsup2

I realize that I'll probably be in the minority, but I really liked the Carousel area.

I guess that's why the resorts are so diverse so that everyone can find what & where they like and what suits their way to vacation. Personally after 2 stays in the Carousel area(made no request) I vowed never to do SSR again. The remoteness of Carousel from the pool, the restaurant and then the view of the parking lot to boot, finished me off. Unfortunately, this past June after modifying my reservation at the 4 month mark, SSR was the only resort available, so I requested Congress Park w/ a DTD view. This June vacation at SSR turned out to be fabulous, I'm a person who enjoys and uses the balconies and our DTD view was fantastic and even more so at night! We really enjoy taking the boat to DTD and walking back to SSR.

This stay changed my entire attitude about SSR. In fact, I just modified my Nov stay to add friends and rather than be split between SSR Congress Park again!

May I ask what building/unit you had in June? I ask because the room I usually requested and got, has become overgrown with trees and now the trees blocks the view of DTD. I still love the room, but do miss the view. Like you, I use my balcony and use to love sitting out there with DH and a nice glass of wine in the evenings looking over to DTD.

Grandstand, Congress Park, Paddock, Springs, Carousel

I'm waiting, with eager anticipation, the opening of the new pool in the Paddock area and can't wait to stay there!
