We're planning a trip for next summer and we'll definitely be staying in a moderate resort. Last time we went, we stayed in Port Orleans French Quarter and we absolutely loved it. However, DH wants to try something new. Which of the other ones do you like and for what reasons - decor, locale, dining, amenities, etc?

Thanks!

We've only stayed at one mod (CBR) and we loved it. The caribbean atmosphere was beautiful, the pool was fun, the food court was good, and the bus transportation was quick and efficient. We had a great stay and wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

Big vote for POR here. The theming is done perfectly, the resort buildings and landscaping are beautiful, and it has nice dining options (food court, Boatwrights), and they had some of the best Mousekeepers I've ever had.

CBR !! The pool is awesome, you feel like you are vacationing in the tropics, and the food court (Old Port Royale) had so many different selections. CBR is the only mod I've stayed in. I don't even want to look into another resort I love CBR so much..lol
Booked our May 2014 stay at CBR today actually :)

After staying at POR, POFQ and CBR, CBR is definitely our favorite.

Ditto! I've stayed at CBR and CSR. I would like to try PoFQ sometime though.

The moderates are our favorite category and we have stayed at all of them.

Our favorite is POR with CSR and CBR tied for VERY close seconds.

We love the more spread out moderates, we enjoy having more than one pool, lush grounds to explore and we love the theming at all of them.

POR is similar but also very different from POFQ. We love the beachy, tropical feel of CBR and love CSR for the tropical/southwest theme.

I think you cannot go wrong with any of the three mods you have not yet tried.

Stayed at both POR and CBR. Hands down POR!! Love the make your own pasta at the food court , boat to DD, carriage rides , beautiful grounds and the kids prefer the pool at POR. And if you need an internal bus to get around a resort - it's too big! That's my biggest complaint with CBR, I couldn't walk to good court or large pool.

The theming at CBR does look beautiful but I can't get over that they are the only mod that doesn't have queen beds. We wanted to stay there on our last trip but that was a deal breaker.

We ended up staying at CSR and the whole family loved it. It is a convention resort but that has it's pluses and minuses. It has a few more amenities than the other mods (ex. fitness center, club rooms) but the convention crowd could turn some off. It didn't affect us at all though. It is a very large and spread out resort (as is CBR) but that didn't really bother us. There are multiple bus stops and compared to all of the walking you do in the parks, it isn't that bad. It would seem quite a bit bigger than POFQ though.

For our upcoming trip, POR is a resort we strongly considered also because of all of the positive reviews I've read about it here.

SO glad to read your review on CBR, we have switched there to save $$ but in the past had read awful reviews. I have read up on it a lot more now and hear that the pool at CBR is great, and we will use the pool a lot..going in Sept! The thing that I'm most bummed about are the double beds but I think we'll survive, LOL

Thanks for all the feedback!

So, no one likes Fort Wilderness?

I was really interested in it until I saw the rate. The cost seems closer to the deluxe prices than the moderates. I love the idea of staying in a cabin, though.

POR gets our vote for our favorite MOD. The theming is what does it for us, particularly the mansion section.

My kids absolutely loved CBR. The pool is really nice there. I thought it was a very pretty place.

We're fans of the deluxes...I prefer the locations, inside corridors to the rooms, theming, room balconies. We've stayed BC, YC, WL.

Having given that background, we have stayed CSR and just a few weeks ago POR.

I prefer not to stay at CSR ever...it had a distinct conference resort feel. Our room felt like a concrete box. The walks to the busses were seemingly very long and not so visually interesting. That trip was in 2000...the landscape may have grown in more by now, but the whole experience leaves me at never again.

We loved POR!!!! It's more our style. It was a great mix of appeal for both our kids (10 and 9) and me. We were fortunate with pixie dust and lived in bldg 14 for our 9 nights. Kids really liked the murphy bed. They loved the main swimming hole but ended up preferring the quiet pools because they are deeper yet. What Im not sure about is whether or not I would like it as much if we stayed further away from the main building...I really liked the convenience. I actually like POR much more than I thought I would being that we really enjoyed WL just last year.

We are intrigued by the cabins, as well. Full size beds is a drawback for us.

Good luck with your decision!
