What is your favorite jar pasta sauce?

I use Prego's Roasted Garlic and Herb but also add marjoram, basil and oregano as well as several small cans of Hunts tomato sauce, the one with basil added. I would love to make my own, but just don't have a clue as how to do it.

We love Francesco Rinaldi, and we can frequently get it for $1 per jar when it's on sale, so we stock up on it then.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned it yet, but I absolutely LOVE Emeril's Homestyle Marinara. I had a coupon once, and thought I'd give it a try since I really liked his salsa. It was really good! Where I am, I can only find two grocery stores that carry it. It's about $1 more than Ragu, but so much better.

I would love a great homemade recipe to try!

Rao's. Yes, I know it's ridiculously expensive, but with Mr. Rao's sauce, and my homemade meatballs DH thinks he's in heaven.

I'm very sensitive to tomatoes, so I tried them all. Found one that didn't make me ill...Bertolli Vineyard Marinara with Burgandy wine.

I like Gia Russo Tomato and Basil and I add hamburger meat.. It's not to sweet.

Our favorite is Victoria, but it is more readily available on the East Coast (I'm from NJ). I did find it at a grocery store here, but at $8.99 a jar! :scared1:

I am a Old World Traditional style Ragu girl! I eat it at least once every two days. We buy the big jugs at Sam's Club. My favorite meal is some whole wheat pasta with Ragu sprinkled with Cavender's Greek Seasoning! Yummy. It's what I had for lunch.

Has anyone tried Kroger's Private Selection? I bought a jar today (sundried tomato, garlic, and olive oil, I believe) because Classico, Bertolli, and Barilla weren't on sale and I'm trying to be very budget concious this week (which, btw, I only spent $100 even on enough groceries for 7-8 days for a family of four including one teenaged boy!).

Did I mess up, or is the stuff ok?

I'm lucky that I have this Italian store about a mile from my home - the lady that owns it jars her own sauce (its better than my Italian mom's).

I usually have 3-4 quart in my freezer, but for those RARE times that I don't, I use Classico 4 cheese and Classico Basil, and mix them together and doctor the heck out of them.

I used to make my own, but since I've discovered this woman's sauce, WHY BOTHER - I've been serving it so long it has become my own :rotfl2:

Paul Newman's.... Sock it to Me sauce. NOT it's real name but that is what we call it. I Think it's real name is Sockaroni.:goodvibes

Do they carry Star Gran Ragu? I don't have the nerve to try it and wondered if anyone else had.

I have never used anything but Mamu's Homemade Tomato Sauce.

I try to avoid any kind of additives or preservatives in the foods I cook. Most prepared foods boxed or jarred have additives I do not want in our diet.

I've never looked because of this woman's wonderful sauce - but I will look now. I live in the most densly populated Italian area in Chicagoland - so we have an Italian store almost everywhere we turn (not as many as you though :rotfl: ) Some we go to for bread, some for sausage, some for sauce. My Saturday afternoons are spent this way. I'll keep and eye out for this brand and I'll give it a try for you.
