No matter where we "plan" to stay, we always end up back at the Poly. It's just so relaxing and convenient. And we know the place like the back of our hands!
We've stayed at many of the resorts both on and off site but we like Pop the best - great location, rooms food, and great cast members. We have alot of fun and seem to be "home" when we go there. The very first stay there I felt it almost immediatley - ("I'm home" ). Can't say enough about it. would love to work for Pop someday to improve it. From adding canopies over the bus waiting areas, to adding water fountains outside to potentially adding a wide screen TV outside showing wait times, next bus arriving, etc..
It is my favorite by far. I will be staying there for the 5th time when we go over New Year's. I love the tropical theme and I always start every trip there with a walk around the lake. It is truly my "Disney Home"
If I could pick one more it would be the YC. I got to saty there once during the value season and loved it! Seeing that I am a teacher now, there is no value season for me. My breaks are always "peak" times at Disney.
We've Stayed at POR twice and CS once as a Family and I was there once for a work conference - POR is my favorite with the FAM (Alligator Alley Rooms)
My oldest Daughter just was excepted into the DCP so I'm driving her down in a couple weeks and staying at POP to save money on the next FAM vacation to go see her and will hopefully get to use her employee discount and try a Deluxe Resort.
The Poly ! They have the best transportation, we love Ohana, the volcano pool is just plain cool especially with it being right on the beach. We love watching the fireworks over magic kingdom and the water parade on the beach at night. We love the tropical feel and the torches lite up at night. Another thing I like is it is not a huge resort and it's easy to get around to everything. The rooms have so much space, way bigger than the value and mods.

Must feel like home if you're planning to redecorate.
We haven't stayed onsite but our family favorite is Saratoga Springs. Part of it is that it feels more like a Timeshare Resort than a hotel, which has good associations for us, and I know youngest likes it because of all the horsie stuff, but why the rest of us like it so much I'm not sure. They were playing Vivaldi and other baroque music when we were there, which is likely why it felt so homey and peaceful to me. I think some of the kids loved the pool, while others liked that there are so many grounds to wander.
I dunno if it's anyone's personal favorite, but it's in everyone's top three.
My personal favorite would be Bay Lake Tower -- but I know a lot of that is nostalgia for the Contemporary, combined with a preference for condos and an appreciation of the view from most units. Parking lot with the Magic Kingdom in the distance, or monorail, or Contemporary, or Bay Lake -- it's all good.
