What is your favorite Character Moment?

When in Disneyland, mid 1990's...I always loved having the Character breakfast at the Plaza Inn (?) Once, Smee and Brer Fox each picked up my trays and carried them to a table. Brer Fox sat down, put my napkin on his lap and proceeded to cut up my food as if he was going to eat my whole meal. My DS (2 or 3 at the time) was horrified that I wasn't going to get to eat. He really let Brer Fox have a piece of his mind! He slinked off with a guilty, apologetic look.

On another visit just a year or two later...I was travelling with my best friend and her DS and mine. We had breakfast at the Plaza again. Brer Fox went by...and best friend said "Who's that...some wolf?" He stopped, glowered at her..and tapped his foot. I said "No, that's Brer Fox" He high-fived me, hugged me and basically pantomined that I was the best! Best friend proceeded to tell him that I was a Disney Trivia nut, and she couldn't be expected to know anything as obscure as him. (she was teasing him, of course). Since I was the "trivia nut" as she put it, he sat down next to me, and grabbed DS's autograph book, and proceeded to write several trivia questions. Each time he wrote one, with a little drawing or clue...he'd give it to me to answer. When I got it right (which was all of them at first), he'd give me a bite of my pancakes or eggs or whatever, while miming "So there" type things to my best friend. (These were very obscure things..like the names of the mushrooms in Fantasia, etc.)

When I finally couldn't get one...the pronounciation of Don Karnage from one of the Rescue Ranger cartoons....he pretended he was going to dump my milk over my head, and began deducting "Points" from the running tally. He hummed the jeopardy tune until I got it right. He crowned me Queen with my napkin, and headed out. All told, this was about 20/30 minutes.

Of course, this was back in the day when table-to-table rotation hadn't begun yet..and interactions were more spontaneous. It was great!

This is really silly and not really that exciting but my first trip to Disney with DH- he took my picture with Snow White. Now as two 20-somethings in Disney, I didn't really expect that the characters would stay that much "in character" for us adults. But Snow White said to me "oooh, your prince takes your pictures for you" The pic came out some cute because I was grinning ear to ear at her comment!

anewvance- I LOVE the look on your DD's face at Prince Charming's kiss! That is precious!

I think our best character moment was over by POTC a couple of years ago. My dd (10 at that time) loved Peter Pan and so waited patiently in line while Peter and Wendy took a break. When they came back out and it was our turn Peter and Wendy were talking to our kids and Hook kept messing with Peter (he was there signing autographs too- just on the other side of a rope.) All of the sudden Peter "crowed" and pretended to have a fight with Hook- of course Peter won. Wendy- always the mother- took my kids in her arms and acted all protective. It was hilarious and lots of fun. I love the interactions with the characters! I've added some pics- not sure why one is larger than the other two- oh well!

Here's a couple of my favorites. They were from our 2001 trip.

We were in MK very early one morning and Chip and Dale were having a ball stealing the kids' hats off their heads and wouldn't give them back. These were a couple from that time:

Back behind LTT we ran into Robin Hood and the Sheriff. The kids got their pictures with Robin and the Sheriff got "angry!" So when they tried to get pictures with him, he "refused." This is the pose he finally gave after we "talked" him into a picture!

I have a couple of cute ones from our past trip during the ice cream social that I'll have to look up too.

Oh my goodness I shouldnt be reading these at work...they make me want to cry!!! Great stories though!

I have a couple..

The first time I went was in 2002 and when we were at RPW in AK. I was trying to open my disposable camera from the silver packaging and Meeko came running out of the building and grabbed the package, then slowly walked away petting it and putting it in his mouth, making references to the fact that it was shiny.

When we went back this year we met the Genie for the first time and he was making references to the fact that was I was there with 3 guys and then he started making "muscles" with his arms so in our picture he and my 3 guys made that pose, but the best thing about the pic is that my DBF still looks like "a kid in Disney World"....

DBF is the one all the way to the right...

I don't usually join these discussions, but I want to add mine! We were having dinner at Goofy's Kitchen at DL last summer. We had a great meal, but no characters. We could see them around, but they didn't seem to find their way to us. (The 5 year old at the next table was celebrating a b.day and was getting more attention than she wanted!) After we were done eating and STILL no characters, I politely mentioned it to a waiter. He apologized and asked if we could wait just a few more minutes. Well, those few minutes were really worth it. The restaurant was closing down, folks were leaving, and we got TONS of character time just for us!! Lots of personal time and pictures with Goofy, Snow White, Pinocchio, Minnie and especially Chip and Dale. C & D played games with the kids on the paper table clothes and wrote us notes, like "Dale Stinks!" (written by Chip, of course!). Plus we were wearing matching outfits and one of the 'munks wrote "I love your outfits!" on the tablecloth. It was a GREAT start to our first ever California vacation!....................P

Here's a few from our D Visa Meet & Greet alone with the Goofy one
He had us dancing and posing it was just to funny.

Once we were waiting for a show at a stage area in Fantasyland (no longer there). The show was cancelled for some reason, but they sent the characters out instead. We were up by the stage, and the characters were behind us. Of course they were mobbed, and we had difficulty getting to them. Dale came up to us. After photos and autographs he motioned for us to follow him. We tried, but we had a wheelchair, and of course he was being mobbed wherever he went. He kept looking back at us, and motioning for us to follow him. As little ones would go to him, he was nice to them, patting their heads and such, but he really wanted us to follow him. Finally, I guess we were not making much progress, so he crossed his arms, stamped his feet, and came back to us, took control of the wheelchair, and took my daughter to meet all of his friends. She saw Goofy, Chip, and of course her favourite character, Minnie. What a wonderful memory!

Last year was my DS1 first visit to the MK. As soon as we entered Main Street, we saw Pluto. My DS1 kissed Pluto right on the nose. We have pictures. It is sooo cute.

My favorite Disney character has always been Pocahontas. We were told she was in Rafiki's Planet Watch. So we went there, and there she was. There was one family infront of us, and no one behind us. I was sooo happy! We told her we had waited 3 years to meet her (secend trip, one year between first and second). So, she spent a long time with me, then asked us if we knew where the petting zoo was, we said no, so she walked us out to the petting zoo. I still remember it, and that was almost 5 years ago.

My favorite character moment was at the Jammin' Jungle Parade. Pluto came walking up behind the interpreters andnext thing I know Pluto is up on the box interpreting and the interpreter is watchimg him. It was really fun.

These are great! I have so many I don't know where to even start. I will have to think about it.

My dd was young she never went near any of the characters. Then one trip we were in Epcot World Showcase and Esmerelda came up to her...I think by surprise. But, she didn't get upset and she loved it. For a few years after Esmerelda was her favorite character. After she was good with all the characters...except she is still freaked out by Goofy and she is 11 now. So now the family makes jokes that Goofy is coming. But, she says on the next trip she will go give him a hug. :rotfl2:

Ohhhhh, I have tears in my eyes from some of these posts. They are so wonderfull.

We have a few, but my favorite was Mary Poppins. At our last trip, I had scheduled several different character breakfasts where Mary Poppins was listed to make a possible appearance. I know the rules that all characters are subject to change, blah, blah, blah. Well, she was not at any one of the 3 we went to. I was so heartbroken that I couldn't get my daughter who only wanted to see Mary Poppins to see Mary Poppins. The wonderfull cast members in the parks were so helpfull, but we kept striking out. They would call their special number and each time we would just miss Mary whereever she was. We took to carrying the outfit all over the place just in case we ran into her. Well, our last day, we were told she would be by Ariel's grotto and we got there and of course she wasn't therer so a different CM called and told us she was in the Toy Store at Great Britian right at that moment. Well, we booked it over there and just as we were getting there, she was leaving. As soon as she saw us, she stopped and went and got a photo pass person and took my daughter by the hand into the back room there and interacted with her while the photopass person took about 50 pictures. She made such a fuss over her, telling her how she made her day so special because she always got to see Little Cinderella's and Snow Whites, but not too many Little Mary's. My daughter was so thrilled and of course so was I because it all worked out. We never did tell Mary Poppins about our problems tracking her down. She was just so wonderfull.

It breaks my heart when I hear stories about characters being rude. We've been very lucky. I hope that everyone always has magical character moments.

Another one I love that is rather sad but very sweet, was at Chef Mickey's last October. A group of four sisters was waiting ahead of us to see Donald Duck. I would saya they were all in their fifties, we chatted a bit as we all waited which was how I found out it was "sisters only" trip for them. One of them was clearly very ill, you could tell she had had chemo, was in a wheelchair but they were all having fun. The sisters kidded this one sister about how long it was taking for them to wait so she could see Donald and she said "well this is my last time you know". When she got up to Donald he spent a lot of time really hamming it up with her, he got down on one knee and pretended to propose, it was so sweet. Then when they wheeled her away, she turned around and said "bye Donald". It made me so sad and yet I admired all of those women so much for really having fun and just enjoying life as it was for them. God bless her, she probably never did get back again, she looked so ill. It made me realize that if I am ever in that situation myself, I too would want to spend my last vacation at WDW. I still hope maybe she pulled through though.

This one gave me goosebumps. I, too, would choose DW as my last vacation. Thank you for the story.

Our youngest DS was 2 1/2 the first time he met Woody and Jessie. He was smiling from ear to ear and was so excited. DS had a pair of tennis shoes on that light up when you stomp. He was showing Woody how they worked. Woody was very cute and tried stomping his cowboy boots. DS just kept giggling. For DH and I the memory is priceless!
