We are thinking of flying down (1st time flying for me & my family) and not sure which airline to choose. My sisters both love southwest, so we'll probably use them, but wanted to hear opinions about other airlines.

TIA!

We are JetBlue fans. If I am traveling somewhere and JetBlue flys there then I go with them. If not then I will go with American.

American... but I'm admittedly biased! ;)

I will fly Southwest to Las Vegas as American doesn't have a non-stop route from SAN there. It's not bad, I just don't care for the me-first action at the gate. We fly Hawaiian to Maui.. again, no direct route.

I voted for other...I LOVE  Midwest Airlines. They are not kidding when they say they are the best care in the air!!!! Lots of direct flights from KC (including Orlando) and do I need to mention the chocolate chip cookies? Also 2x2 seating on most flights!

I saw Southwest because 90% of the time they're the cheapest airline. They have a convenient flight schedule. They also make it very simple (not to mention, free) to change your itinerary, something airlines such as Delta, charge you up to $100 to do.

Question about Southwest. I was told, that they do an A-B-C type boarding. Is this true? How does that work? How can I insure, that my husband and my three children will all be seated together?

TIA! :)

The 1st 45 people to check in are assigned an A pass. Next 45 a B pass and the rest are C passes. There are 4 lines at each gate: Preboard, A, B, C. Preboard is for people who need assistance (must get a special card for this) and most times, but not always, people with children age 4 and under.
When it's time to load the plane, preboards go first then A, then B, then C.
There's no 1st class and the planes are always 3 x 3. Kids under 15 or adults that are responsible for a child cannot sit in an exit row. Other than that, any available seat is yours for the taking.
We've used them about 6 times now and we've never been separated from our kids even when we had a B pass once.
You can check in online 24 hrs. before your flight. I try to do it as close to the 24 hr. point as possible to get A passes.
It sounds complicated but once you see it, it really is simple and goes quickly. I don't miss assigned seats at all and considering they just offered a Ding fare for $34 from Philly to MCO, I will always look to SW first for our flights.

I know I am among the few that likes Delta but they were wonderful when we flew last Dec. Best part direct flights from BHM

JB, then SW. I am addicted to those stupid tv's in the seat backs. Really helps pass the time. But, if I can't get a decent fare with them, I'm more than happy to fly SW.

Looks like I'm in the minority here... United. Why? Former road warrior -I have almost 400,000 frequent flyer miles. Yikes! That's a lot of free trips to the Motherland!

No question about it......SOUTHWEST!!I fly 2x a month.

Name another airline that does NOT charge you a change fee, and has a better Customer Service dept?? And where else can you get $98 non-stop,roundtrip flights??

I'm in the minority too, but Delta as well. Haven't had any problems with them. Can't say the same for US Airways, where it's just problem after problem. We like Southwest, too, and do fly them when they serve the cities we need to go to (it's an easy and inexpensive trip to Orlando, but anywhere exotic they just don't fly to). I also like SW RR's program, where I've been able to easily get free flights.

I love Southwest....

Macarthur airport....5 min from my house...
SW..flies from there....usually a great price:woohoo:

Also if the price goes down....very easy to get new price..
you get a credit...good for 1 yr..

Southwest for me too.. have never had a problem with them . and they fly into pretty much everwhere

Southwest for us, too! It flies pretty much where we go (............or do we go only where SWA flies :confused3 :lmao: ).
