I was asked this at work last night...

What is the earliest thing you remember? How old were you? And do you think/know it was actually a memory or just a story that you heard so many times it seems like an actual memory?

I was around 3 and I remember the Landlords granddaughter used to read me this book that was a red hardcover with a black crow in it. I don't remember the book name or even the story line but remember this girl reading it to me vividly. I didn't even know it was the Landlords granddaughter until a couple years ago when I was telling this story and my mother said "you remember that! She used to babysit you, it was the LL GD!"

DH's earliest memories are around the age of 3 as well but his mom swears a couple of them he could not possible remember!

9/6/75
My brother's 2nd birthday--I was turning 4 at the end of the month-he fell asleep after dinner(he was wearing a green shirt, I remember) on the living room couch and I was all stressed out that a sleeping birthday boy meant no cake for me. LOL

My mom told me to calm down--we woke him up and all was fine-I got my cake. ;)

I was 2 or 3, and hiding under the kitchen table from my mother. That's all.

My Mom tells me that I remember playing with the neighborhood kids in my
1st house. There's just one problem with that! We moved from there when I was 3 weeks old!

The birth of my brother (no I didn't actually see it).

Needless to say it was a very trumatic memory that I have never been able to get over :rotfl: . I asked my DM why we couln't give him back.

I was 3 or even younger and in my grandma's kitchen and my grandpa would lift me up in the air over his head over and over again and I screamed "AGAIN" "AGAIN". He also lifted me up and let me sit on the top of the refridgerator! I laughed and laughed!

I was a tiny, tiny tike.....it was the blizzard of 78 or 79..I forget...anyway:

My mother put bread sacks on both of my feet and bundled me up....:lmao: :lmao: We trekked outside and the snow was up to my waist....I fell down....the dog came and licked me and then stood over me. I remember this dog sitting on my chest - this is my first memory.:)

I don't know which memory came first. I was about 3 years old, and I remember I was with my dad "helping" him wash the car. Our cats were running all around, and we finished washing the car. As we walked to the house it started to rain.

My other memory is of me sitting on the front porch in this old rocking chair with my favorite kitty, Puddles, sitting on my lap. I had an ice cream from the ice cream truck, and I was sharing it with Puddles - one lick for me one lick for my cat one lick for me one lick for my cat... (hey, I was only 3!)

I have a memory of when my mother was pregnant, so I must have been around 2 1/2. In the memory, I was in the front yard and she was speaking loudly or yelling at me, and then I ran through some tall grass to the neighbor's yard (to play with a little girl who lived there). I'm sure in retrospect she wasn't yelling -- I told her about the memory once and she told me that when she was really pregnant and at her wit's end and the neighbors were in their yard, she would tell me to go over to play with that little girl so that she could get a break.

I also have ... I don't know if it is a memory exactly ... but I sort of get flashes of it from time to time. In the memory, I'm way up high (maybe in somebody's arms) and being carried along the sidewalk next to a lighting store with what seemed like millions of bright lights in the window, and I spit something I am eating or spitup or something and it splats onto the sidewalk. The memory seemed like I must have been really really tiny -- like 1 year old or something -- so I always thought it was a dream or something. Years later, we drove by our old neighborhood and we passed by that lighting store, which looked just like it did in the memory. I'm still a bit skeptical that I could have a memory from such an early age, but who knows :confused3

Mine is a mommy and me swimming lessons class that I took when I was about 2 I guess. I remeber swimming and reaching for the plastic ball pit balls that they put in the pool for us to get.

Horrible car accident. My only injuries were from the docs letting me roll off the exam table. My sister nearly lost her life. I was under a year when it happened. I used to dream about it all the time. I didn't understand it until I asked my mother. She was shocked/surprised but once it was out it made the dreams go away (mostly)

My first memory is when my twin brothers were born. I was 2 1/2. I already 3 brothers and had already made up my mind that when my mother came home from the hospital, it would be with a girl. I was furious when my Dad told me not only was it 1 boy, but 2. :p My mom says I didn't speak to her for a few days, but eventually the new babies won me over. I finally did get my girl, but not until after another set of twin brothers were born. :p

I remember looking out the window with my older sister, watching for my dad to come home in the black car. My mother swears I couldn't remember this as I was 18 months old when they had the black car, but I don't know how else I would know about the black car.

I also remember some male relative picking me up and his deep booming voice scaring me.

I have many memories of when I was was 4-6 yrs old.. we moved to Texas when I was 6 and I can remember the exact layout of our old house.. I have many memories of that house.. I remember my grandmother who died when I was 4 or 5.. I remember times at my grandparents house.. I have alot of memories from that time in my life.. good ones..:goodvibes

My earliest memory is when I broke my elbow at age 3.

I just have flashes of memory though.
I remember my best friends dad coming to look at it
I remember my dad carrying me to the clinic on a very hot day
I remember the x-rays being done
I remember the cast being put on, and being taken off
That's all I remember

mine is actually my fisrt trip to WDW, I was 3 and remember lots of the trip but what really sticks out is..... while in Florida we stayed at my grandma's house and I found a good sized, dead, flat as a pancake frog and threw it on my mom, that caused quite a reaction so thats probably why its something I remember so well.

I remember walking across the street, while my brother and his friends climbed the garage that was there. I wanted to climb up,too. At the same house, I climbed up the stairs into my parent's bedroom and there was a trouble game on the bed.

Last thing from that time period is that I remember walking around the neighborhood in search of the ice cream man and having a policeman find me and bring me home.

All of these happened between 18 months and when we moved out of that house just before I turned two.

I remember my father punching my mother in the arm continuously when I was a baby. her arm was bruised from bottom to top.. not sure how old I was but probably about 1 year old as they divorced when I was 13 month old.
Not a very pleasant first memory wish it was happier:sad2:

I remember standing up in a crib in a room that had wallpaper with a shocking blue pattern on it. I remember not wanting to be left in that room alone. I had to be a little over 12 months old.

My parents did have an apartment with a room like that when I was a baby and that's where I slept. They said I never wanted to go to bed.

My mother was holding me, and a song. According to her, I was about six months old.
