All this talk of dogs on the CM has me wondering.

What is your dogs name and why?

Mine is Jazz. He is a flat-coated retriever. DD thought " he" was a "she" and wanted her name to be Jasmine. When we found out it was a boy, musician DH said, I would love a dog named Jazz! So, Jazz it is!!

Wishing everyone a "magical" day!

We got Sadie when she was 2 and she was already named although we did add Marie to the end of it.

Lady is a Cocker Spaniel.....that being said plus our love of Disney, Lady seemed the only option.

Tramp was found in the middle of the highway. He is a Shih-tzu and had beebee pellets in his fur. Tramp fit him because he was a stray and also to go along with Lady.

Cheyenne - because she was born in Wyoming County. Kinda like Cheyenne, Wyoming? ;)

Sexy Sadie and Maxwell (Maxwell"s Silver Hammer) DH is a Beatles fan.

Ollie - part lab/part greyhound. The kids named him after the skateboarding move "ollie".

Rebel - part lab/part hound. We got him in Tennessee so I felt he needed a good, southern name.

Mannfred (Old English Sheepdog), after the dog in the "Tom Terrific" cartoons, Mighty Mannfred the Wonder Dog.

Our yellow lab is "Blue". Named after Blue from Blue's Clues.

We have a golden retriever named Copper. Named after his grandfather, who was "So and so's Copper Penny". He is more red than gold, and sort of looks like an Irish Setter, so I guess it fits....Oh, and Copper is the dog in "The Fox and the Hound":teeth:

Sassafrass, it was her previous owners favorite spice. When we took her we kept the name although we mostly call her sassy or sass.

Babe.....we got her when DD was 3 and she was really into the movie "Babe".....she insisted so we agreed......and Babe grew into her name...she is 125 lb Bullmastiff

Sonshines Semper Fidelis CGC TDIA. How did he get that name? He was one of an "F" litter meaning that one of the words in his name had to begin with an F. Sonshine is the kennel name, so it had to be the first word. Husband was a Marine. So his name is Sonshines Semper Fidelis. The CGC is for Canine Good Citizen. The TDIA is for Therapy Dogs International Active.

We just call him Dallas. His "patients" call him Dr. Dallas. :p

Golden Retriever named Draco because when he was a puppy he wasn’t afraid of anything. He had the heart of the dragon….. too bad he turned out to be the biggest chicken on the planet

Winston - because he had already been named when Mrs. AA received him as her guide dog.

The puppies are either named by the puppy raisers (who are assigned a letter to begin the name with to identify the litter) or by individuals/organizations who donated enough to choose a name for a dog.

We were told that a church had donated funds and named Winston. It was the name of a dog the preacher had when he was a kid.

Needless to say, we don't know who the "original" Winston was named for...could be a cigarette or Churchill or some boyhood friend for all we know.

We just say he was named after another dog. :teeth:

We have Stella the yellow lab/sheppard I just liked the name Stella.

And her brother Jack the black and white lab/sheppard. The rescuer named him BlackJack so we just shortened it to Jack but I call him Jackson quite a bit.

We have a greyhound we call Lily; it's not her original name, that was Jaraynium. They sure do have some funny racing names.

I have a fawn Great Dane and he was a Valentines Day present from my husband, he is 6 years old now. Since he is so majestic looking I wanted him to have a majestic name so I took the name from my nieces first cabbage patch doll which was a premie boy named Thurston Gerrard and his official name on his papers is Thurston Gerrard Montgomery I. Well we thought that was a great name for his papers but we wanted to call him something cute. That was the time that Disney's Hercules came out on video and my husband suggested that. It couldn't have been more perfect. He just looks like a Hercules. But we call him alot of things from that name like Hercydoodle, Herc, Hercypoodle well you get the idea. I could go on and on about him but I don't want to bore you guys. He is my baby.

His name is Teddy, because that's what his name was when we got him,and we didn't want to confuse him and change it.

Pickles, my sister named him that because she thought he looked like a pickle. (Yes, alcohal was probably involved). She bought him for us. Changing it seemed like a sensitive topic and by the time we left Florida he was used to it. I wanted to name him Rupert or Giles, so his full name is Rupert Pickles Van Helsing.

We just got a Blonde(Butterscotch)Golden Retriever Puppy. His Name is Dega Short for Talledega. We are huge Nascar fans and that is our favorite track.
