What is your 'coolest' scar?

Mine is on my ankle. About 2"

I was about 18--at Harry's Bar in Tuscaloosa, AL and playing pool (pay no attention to the underage drinking--I'm sure I had a 'valid' ID:rotfl: ).

The guys we were playing pool against were losing and one of them threw their pool stick and it splintered. One part of the stick came FLYING at me and hit my foot. Cut my leather shoe and left me gushing blood.

My brilliant sister & I went home, got me cleaned up (i.e. bleeding stopped) and went BACK to Harry's b/c all the football players were still there.

The next morning I couldn't walk and had to go in for stitches and ended up on crutches for 3 days:rotfl2: .

Ahhhh---good times, good times.

Anyone else have an interesting scar story? Do share!

Hm, I have a 9 inch scar running down mid-thigh to mid-shin. Who else can say they have a knee replacement at 15?

Coolest, I don't think I have one. Maybe the one on my left knee when I fell off my scooter from going to fast?

I don't think I have any cool scars.

I have my c-section scar and a big scar on my knee when I feel last Spring walking out of a restaurant in Orlando carrying DS. I was so scared that he was hurt but he was fine, my knee another store.

I do have a hole on my shin from skiing when I was 16. I was making my gazillionth run of the day and the sun was setting so i couldn't see the glare of the ice on the run. I fell and slid into a guy that had fallen in front of me and the tip of his ski went through my ski clothes and my under-clothes and cut down through to my shin bone. That was fun ... is that cool?

When I was 11 or 12 my friend and I were riding our 10-speed bikes across town to see if our dream boys were home. We were looking to see if their mopeds were in the driveway when we spied them coming down the road. We made a quick turn so they wouldn't see us, but I dumped my bike - and the pedal tore up my ankle.

My biggest ones are on the inside of each of my feet - bunionectomies

Coolest? I never thought of scars as being cool. :lmao:

My most interesting scar is the one on my left foot, I think. I punched a shower door when I was 16 (I had a bit of a temper :rolleyes1 ), it broke into a bunch of pieces and a huge chunk of glass got embedded in my foot. I insisted on going to school anyway (hey, there was a cute boy I wanted to gawk at :rotfl: ). My mother said okay, but I had to call home during lunch. I called from the cafeteria payphone and told her I was still limping. She made me go to the nurse. When the nurse took my shoe off, my whole shoe was filled with blood and she had to actually peel my sock off my foot, even though the injury had been bandaged up that morning. There wasn't enough skin for stitches (my foot bones were showing, blech), so she just wrapped my foot up and sent me home.

I now have a nasty scar and no sensation on the top of that foot to remind me of my temper. ;)

I sort of look like I had a close encounter with a great white at some point in my life. I don't consider any of my scars cool. They are better than being dead, but certainly not cool.

Hmm--I have always thought scars were kind of cool (obviously--hence this post, lol). I just think they are part of life and little reminders of some good (some not) stories.

My 9 year old son has BIG scars from surgery (at six months--club foot) and on the back of his leg (huge cut). He's like me--he thinks they are really cool.

Guess we are an odd lot!:goodvibes

I guess it all depends on where the scars are and what they are from. I have a scar measuring about 12 inches starting at the center of my chest and running around to my back where my breast used to be. It is not something I consider cool.

I'm not trying to bring you down. Everyone thinks of things differently. If your scars are cool to you, good for you! I just don't think everyone will feel the same way.

Okay, it is hard to explain this one.

I have a small tattoo on my right palm. It looks like an enraged dot.

I was at my desk one day. Newly sharpened pencil. New aeron chair. New floor mat.

The phone rang and I scooted my chair so that I could answer the phone. I had my pencil in my hand as the other end of the pencil met the side of the desk's top. Since very sharp pencils can't penetrate wood, it went straight into my palm.

I even got to go to the emergency room! They put needles in my palm to numb it and scraped out all the lead.

The tattoo is the lead that they were not able to clean off from the underside of my skin.

:scared:

I have several scars. I'm not the most graceful adult and sure not as a child.

I have on one my forhead it's very pale but raised up skin from going into the windshield around age 9 I think, during a car accident.

I have another long one about 4 or 5 inches on the back of my right knee again from childhood. I was outside and somehow stepped on a jagged piece of stick and it popped up and stuck itself into the back of my knee and then managed to tear itself down while I was trying to pull itself out.

I have a really weird dark black dot scar in my left hand where a pyscho girl(at least then I thought psycho) now I think she was sexually abused alot, tried to stab me with a sharp pencil and I held up my hand and she hit my hand. I was in the 6th grade and the boy she liked asked me to sit by him at the ballgame.

I also have ugly scars on my knees where I fell as a young child into alot of gravel and had to have the rocks picked out of my knees.

I don't know if I consider any of them cool but they are there.

My daughter has a scar that I love. It's on her hand where her thumb and index finger meet. When she was 2, her and my niece were playing on the TV while my mom was baby-sitting. They were hanging off the thing. :headache: The TV ended up falling off the stand and landing on my daughter's hand. A couple of inches more and it could have ended up crushing her body and/or head and not just her hand. (my niece missed it entirely). It's her lucky scar.

I have an 11" stainless steel rod attached to my spine with screws & wings nuts. Since the scar is on my back, I can't measure it for you, but its longer than 11", that's for sure.

I have pretty cool x-rays!

I have a small half moon scar on my left thumb. When I was in 2nd grade I fractured my wrist and was put in a cast. The doctor went to trim the cast by my thumb and trimmed me instead.

Hamster gone crazy!!
on my thumb!

But my favorie scar story is I had a hernia operation. Shortly after I went against my doctors advice and played softball.

On one particular divinng play at short my underwear hooked into two staples keeping the scar closed.
It took me some time to unattach and when the team found out what I was doing they gave me the nickname "Swingline"...

The nickname and procedure both lasted!

I'm sorry--I hope this thread hasn't upset you. That was certainly not my intent.

let me tell ya about the one....

Sorry, this just popped into my head:)

oh gosh let's see...I have my C-Section Scar, up and down since it was an emergency. I have my Gall Bladder Laproscopic Scars, they are pretty cool since one is in my belly button.

I have a scar on my arm from when I was a teenager and now DH and I were play wrestling and we broke one of those big water jugs and it cut my arm.

I think my coolest though is another softball story. DH and I were playing co-ed softball and I caught the ball with my mouth! I ended up with 23 stitches and a swollen mouth. It's really a funny story because I was standing there bleeding blue blood and all we could do was laugh. Even when my lip swole up we couldn't stop laughing.

I have a little scar (more like a bump now) on my ring finger. I got it because a bald eagle at the raptor conservation center I was volunteering at had managed to knock down a perch and had somehow gotten the hook on the end of a bungee cord pushed through its wing. The cord was still on the wall, so the bird was hanging itself. When we were disentangling it, the bird bit my finger.

It's my favorite scar because even though it was a freak accident that should never have happened, I was lucky to have been in area when it did happen. It was more than a little scary to get into that cage with such a huge injured bird, but I managed to take a deep breath and do it anyway.

I have several scars from stitches through the years.

My most prominent scar right now is a 4" vertical surgical scar going up from my bellybutton and two side port scars. I gave my little brother a kidney a few years ago after lupus caused both of his to fail.

Who would have thought they'd take a kidney out through the front? :rotfl:

ETA: My sig pic was taken 5 months after the surgery

Ok, scars... I have one on my left thumb when I tried to take food away from my Ferrit when I was like 17 - she was NOT happy with me. I have one on my left pointer finger (though its really faded now) from slicing it when trying to cut limes. I have horrible huge ones on the ta-tas from breast reduction surgery - I hate them.

DH has a really great one on his sholder from playing manhunt as a kid. I forget exactly what he did, something like slammed into a wall or railing or something - all I know is that when he got home, his mom totally freeked and threw him in the bathtub because he was bleeding so bad - and the bone was half way out!!! DH was also a pro skateboarder, so you would think he would have a lot more scars, but he doesn't.... how boring!

Oh. BTW - The Jaws pic - HILARIOUS!!!! One of my top favorite movies!!!
