What is Your Christmas breakfast Menu?

Trader Joe's Chocolate Croissants. :lovestruc:lovestruc
Kids have white hot chocolate.
And DH and I have Bailey's in our coffee.;)

We have bucks fizz (OJ & champagne) with croissants filled with orange chocolate. Sounds strange, but is really yummy. Just take some large buttery croissants, cut them in half (slice so that there is a top and a bottom) then place a couple of chocolate orange segments in each. Heat in the oven for about 5 minutes until lightly crisp, then EAT!!!!!

DH makes homemade waffles on the waffle iron his parents got 45 yrs ago for their wedding. (It really does make the BEST waffles.) Lil' smokies and fresh fruit.

We in the past have done a very large breakfast (sausage, gravy, biscuits, cinnamon rolls, eggs) and while the adults enjoy it my littles are so sold on it..we have a huge lunch and then dinner at my MIL..I think I may go with a couple of others and do bagels, cream cheese, and fresh fruit ;) Simple and a little bit of something for everyone!!

Do you guys have a link to this? I am looking for something new to make this year. I assume it has at least a stick of butter in it. :rotfl2:

Yup, you guessed it - two sticks of butter and some half and half too, just in case we need a little cholesterol boost :rotfl: But every bit delicious!

Here's the link: Paula Deen's Baked French Toast Casserole

And here's the recipe:

Baked French Toast Casserole with Maple Syrup
Recipe courtesy Paula Deen

EasyServes:
6 to 8 servings. Ingredients
•1 loaf French bread (13 to 16 ounces)
•8 large eggs
•2 cups half-and-half
•1 cup milk
•2 tablespoons granulated sugar
•1 teaspoon vanilla extract
•1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
•1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
•Dash salt
•Praline Topping, recipe follows
•Maple syrup
Directions
Slice French bread into 20 slices, 1-inch each. (Use any extra bread for garlic toast or bread crumbs). Arrange slices in a generously buttered 9 by 13-inch flat baking dish in 2 rows, overlapping the slices. In a large bowl, combine the eggs, half-and-half, milk, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt and beat with a rotary beater or whisk until blended but not too bubbly. Pour mixture over the bread slices, making sure all are covered evenly with the milk-egg mixture. Spoon some of the mixture in between the slices. Cover with foil and refrigerate overnight.

The next day, preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Spread Praline Topping evenly over the bread and bake for 40 minutes, until puffed and lightly golden. Serve with maple syrup.

Praline Topping:
•1/2 pound (2 sticks) butter
•1 cup packed light brown sugar
•1 cup chopped pecans
•2 tablespoons light corn syrup
•1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
•1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Combine all ingredients in a medium bowl and blend well. Makes enough for Baked French Toast Casserole.

We make an Amish Ham and eggs over easy with Fresh Itialian bread! My dad always made this Christmas morning and it became our tradition after he passed away. Its more work than I feel like doing at 6 am but the kids look forward to it! (I guess we all look forward to it) The cinnamon rolls might be a special addition this year, they sound yummy!

Can anyone share their recipe for breakfast casserole...the egg and sausage one? I lost my copy and can't remember the amounts of everything. We are a family of 3, but my DH and DS are big eaters. ;) Thanks!

Okay, guess we have a weird tradition. :rotfl:
We usually have some our evenings leftovers :lmao::lmao:
We have the HUGE italian thing the night before (lasagne, antipasta, fish stuff, fried and cold shrimp, and on and on and on and on) and we always have leftovers...so we wake up by about 9-10am and then start picking a little of this and a little of that, just a small sampling for the dh and I. ....the ds is rather picky...but loves those little potato latke type things, so I throw a few in the oven for him.
BUT
after reading this thread, I am making some Monkey Bread, the ds has liked that in the past...
We don't eat dinner till later in evening since our BIG celebration is Xmas eve, Xmas Day is a bit calmer, we head out for dessert get together with the other half of the family (spouses side) late evening and I must say.....its quite nice .........;)

Glad to see someone else does this too! Yep everyone picks out their favorite leftover and microwaves to enjoy for breakfast.
Then its time to head over to MIL for more eating.:cool1:
Never felt the need to make even more food in the morning, too busy making something to bring over to MIL as well or just enjoying the presents.

We do something different every year depending on kids (adults) and what the are up to.

I'm still not sure what we are doing but we will be having

Mimosas
Winter Fruit Salad
Coffee

for sure.

Either creme brulee french toast or Paula Deen's scrambled eggs and sausage spirals. I will probably make bacon (baked) if I make the french toast.

I may make cinnamon rolls, too, or some kind of coffee cake. I make the cinnamon rolls the night before, stick in the fridge, and bake the next morning. They do a slow rise in the fridge.

We have our dinner late in the day ~ no lunch.

I make homemade cinnamon buns the night before until the last step with the actual baking and refrigerate them until morning..... then first thing in the AM, I take them out, let them rise a bit, and then pop them in the oven so they're ready when we're done opening gifts and getting ready for the hour drive to Grandma's house.... :santa:

That Paula Dean recipe sounds soo yummy. I wish I could make it but I have one kid allergic to eggs and both allergic to nuts : ( Maybe one day.

For those of you that make monkey bread? How much of that can you pre-make? I do it all Christmas morning but I would love to be able to start some of it to save time. Does anyone do that?

I make a breakfast casserole Christmas Eve (eggs, crumbled sausage, cheese, shredded hash browns from the dairy section). We put it in the oven while the kids are going through their Santa loot. We add some garlic cheese grits & warm up some croissants. It makes a wonderful breakfast. (It's great with mimosas for the big kids & OJ for the little ones) Have a great Christmas!
:cool1:

For those of you who get dunkin donuts....do you pick them up on Christmas Eve and then just serve them Christmas morning? I would love to put out a platter of donuts for the kids, but no one is going to go get donuts on Christmas Eve....with four kids there is a LOT of present opening going on!

French Vanilla Hot Chocolate with Buttershots
Regular Hot Chocolate with Godiva
Dark Hot Chocolate with Raspberry Vodka

oh, and plain Hot Chocolate for the kids.

There may be some pastries in there too.

SOOOO on my menu for Christmas morning now !
