I feel like I am getting immune to these types of stories. My sister is a manager for Dept. of Children and Family Services (DCFS) here in Chicago and she has a million stories like this. This past summer one of her case workers had a client who was so coked up put his 9 month old son on the gas grill while it was going! Thank God a neighbor was there to save him before he was burned to death. It absolutely sickens me.

Radio said no charges were filed YET. I fully believe charges will be brought eventually...I think this was a recent find and they aren't done processing everything yet.

There were no details given about what tipped off the authorities, or how long per day the kids were kept in the cages. This stuff will come out slowly, I'm sure.

I have to say that especially having now been in the adoption world, when I hear stuff like this I'm always especially shocked. You have to go through so much paperwork and red tape to get in that position, then to do that it's way beyond sickening.

This sounds right, they are still investigating, I'm sure. They want to make sure they've got their ducks all in a row before filing charges. We don't want this thrown out on a technicality, after all! I'd rather them wait a day or two and file when they have all the facts.

I am a former foster parent for the county that is involved with this case. in the above articile it states one of the boys slept in a cage for 3 years. if these cages were in the house for 3 years then i think some heads should roll at the county agency. because this means that the social workers were not making their routine safety inspections of the house. Our house would routinely have social workers walking thru to check things out. this is also the same agency that last summer placed a 10 year old girl with a foster father who stabbed her to death.
