my daughter emma has been sick for almost a week now. she started last Sat night vomitting ( she found an sour milk cup) so we thought that made her sick. Fine all day on Sun till Sun night she got the high fever and started puking again. we thought she caught the bug that was going around. Mon she was perfectly fine till about 7pm and then puked agian once and got the high fever that stayed at around 103 till 10 am on Wed. Took her to her ped and they found out that she had an ear infection and a possible UTI. No bug, they think the puking is caused by the fluid from her ear draining and making her have an upset stomach. They had to catherize her to check for the UTI and found out she was holding Urine for a while and her keytones were high but no UTI. She was Fine from when we get home and take antibotics till yesterday afternoon, when she started vomiting again. The gross thing is that she only vomits right after she eats and then will puke her guts out and then want to finish eating. She wont puke agian until she waits a few hours and then eats again, and does the same thing. Hubby thinks it is because she is starving and her stomach cannot handle too much food.

Is her puking is pyschological or are the doctors wrong and she has the bug? she has been very blah today but hasnt had a fever since Tues and just lays there. but they said she needs to be on her med for about 48 hours for her to feel fine agian. Its the puking that worries me because she was dehydrated on Tues. she wont take pedialyte but will sometimes eat a pop and is drinking but she usually vomits it up!

I am sick of cleaning puke and washing a million loads of pukey laundry....what is wrong with my baby and when will she get better! :guilty:

I'm not sure whats wrong but what food are you giving a puking child? Can she hold any liquid down?

We always start with flat coke by the tablespoon 1 every ten min. Once she is holding that down try jello or chicken broth. No dairy or acidic foods.

The med could be making her puke.

Sounds like you need a second opinion from a doctor, not the Dis.
Hope she feels better soon.

I just took my dd 5 in for the same thing (except the ear ache and uti). My ped is treating her an intestinal infection. He prescribed her mebendaloze and this medicine is an anthelmintic used to treat worm infections. :scared: ! Your dd might have this too.

Good luck
Sabrina

I've had 3 preschoolers out in my class with basically the same symptoms. One mom told me her child had it for almost 2 weeks on and off.
 Hope it gets better soon.

This morning she had dry toast. Kept that down fine. about an hour later she had a bit of ginger ale and puked. after that she was fine, drank 2 glasses of water and a popsicle. At 10 am she ate plain fruit loops and had no problem with that. drank fine all afternoon and had plain pasta lunch I called the ped and they said if she wants to eat let her eat whatever she wants but just try to stay away from acidy stuff and milk just in case. They dont do the BRAT diet anymore and suggest eating as normal as possible. She refuses to eat soup because the last month she got sick and she puked while eating soup and hasnt eating it since and she screamed when i tried to give her toast or crackers. All day she kept asking for hot dogs. So i heated one up for her. after 1/2 a dog she puked. I tried to take it away from her and she screamed so i left it with her while i went to clean the puke bucket and she ate the other half of the hot dog. she did ask for more and i wouldnt give it too her. She hasnt puked since and is happily watching a movie with daddy. thats why i think it is psychological... she is fine until she pukes and then immediatly fine afterwoods......

The BRAT diet is for the other end. I would make a chicken soup from scratch then just give her the chicken & soft noodles. Let her have Ice pops all she wants. Tellher you want to feed her like a baby & do the flat coke tablespoon at a time. Make sure she is peeing normal if she is not call DR. Dehydration is setting in. I feel so bad for you.

Why on earth would a 3 year old WANT to do that ??

My kids have done that before, been fine, got sick and then was fine again until later on. It happens, I dont think there is anything psychological about that :confused3 ....welcome to motherhood :rotfl2:

Hope she starts to feel better soon, my daughter has finally started feeling better after almost 3 weeks of the nasty cold bug that went around. :crazy2:

she is drinking fine and is finally peeing normally. I didnt mean that she wants to puke but I think that because she puked so much the last few days, certain things trigger her gag reflex..She is still in the other room whining for chocolate milk and a hot dog! yuck :crazy2:

We are off Milk & drink soy. Which is nive when bugs come because the soy does not have the same effect as milk...if yo know what I mean.

Ohh okay, gotcha now ;) :thumbsup2

well she seems to be doing a bit better. She is in bed watching a movie. She had a few bites of yogurt and some cheese and crackers. she cried for a few minutes for her choco milk but its more of a comfort thing and I told her no more milk in bed and she can have milk tommorrow if she doesnt puke tonight. I hate cleaning up milk puke! :crazy2:

Aww glad to hear she is doing better.

I have to agree, milk has got to be about the worst puke to clean up...
