What is wrong with Disers lately?

The main problem here is that people do take things sometimes way to personally. As for the woman who's sister committed suicide my response was to someone in the post not the OP.

Suicidality is no different than any other disorder and it can be treated. The problem is that people are too busy to notice or hear that a family member or friend is in trouble. The signs are always there but they are often ignored.

Was I harsh, yes! Am I sorry someones feelings were hurt, Yes! but i'm not sorry for speaking my mind. That OP is grieving but this is not the place to seek out unbiased comfort. She should be with her family.

My annoyance was more with the person who tried to compare a military death to the death of Whitney Houston and why the flag should or shouldn't fly. It was inappropriate and in a way how the Op titled the post seemed to suggest a sort of disgruntled attitude that the New Jersey flag was flying low for Whitney but not her sister. I feel sorry for both families death is death. I really feel for the Houston family because their daughter, mother, friend effected my life with her music. I didn't know WH but I knew and loved her music which was a gift.

IMO, this entire post is attempting to justify bad behaviour. I've been following that thread, and was sad to see it turn so nasty. The OP just lost her sister....she's grieving....and is frustrated that a large segment of society seems to place more importance and focus on the death of a singer, than on the tragic circumstances surrounding the death of a soldier. I'm also guessing that she hasn't returned for a couple of reasons.....first and foremost, she is with her family (and to suggest because she made one thread, she's not, is insulting) and she has probably read enough to realize how nasty some people were being. Hopefully, she sees that most people were supportive and caring....

I don't wish this kind of grief on anyone...... :sad2:

Nor do I, but you can't compare the death of a celebrity to a solider and that is my point. Yes, it's sad that a person committed suicide that killing themselves was easier than going threw the rough spot and that going to the unknown was easier than staying here. However, I didn't know them. Nothing they did affected my life. Whitneys talent affected MILLIONS world wide in a positive way including me. There is no comparison other than death is death and death is sad.
To be fair if you sign up to be in the military you should know that you are now elevated to have PTSS, suicidally, anxiety, anger management issues among other things and that you will probably not get the help you really need.

i think of a thing called tact. there is a time and place for such discussions. when someone is grieving the loss of a loved one, it is neither the time nor place to "speak your mind."

as far as grammar, i know proper grammar. i majored in publishing in college (minor in english). but when i am here, i like to be relax and chat. and sometimes, i type faster than i think and--gasp--misspell something!!! i have been scolded because i don't like to capitalize. i've been told that it makes me had to understand. really? you can't understand my message because i don't capitalize? (i just walked away from that one. it wasn't worth the argument.)

seriously, it's the Dis. i'm not writing a report or research paper. accept me as i am. :confused3 i think we'd all do well to extend a little common courtesy to each other. :)

if you can't say something nice, move along. if someone is grieving/hurting and you just want to fight, PLEASE, move along.

You're really proving the point of the OP in this thread.

You are right about one thing.....you can't compare the death of a celebrity to a soldier.....I feel sorry for anyone who thinks that the death of a drug-addicted celebrity is more deserving of attention than the tragic death of a soldier.....

You have much to learn.....if it wasn't for the men and women who choose to sign up and defend your freedom to speak, where do you think you'd be?

I'm not American, and I don't profess to understand the US military midset, but I do respect the job they do.....

I keep re-reading your post and find myself shaking my head in disbelief.

You state that "Nothing they did affected my life." Really? This woman worked to defend your freedom, yet you say this?

I can only hope that with age and maturity comes wisdom in matters like this.....

While I know MANY MANY people here find military careers as highly respectable, I do not. It's not a big deal everyone has things they respect and don't respect. We can't all love the same things. Let's move on because we will NEVER see eye to eye on this point.

So fill us in on what is so unrespectable about military careers. Please grace us with your wisdom on a subject you really don't have any experience in. I would love a good Sunday morning laugh.

Well OP, have your answers? This thread is a great example of what is wrong.

Well on a different thread, someone enjoyed criticizing a certain somebody for grammar usage and possibly spelling as well. How I love being made fun of on a site where that is not necessary. So what perfect timing for this thread to be here.

p.s. I like another words.... gracias..... :p

~~ I love you Phil, and you will forever be with me! Forever my very best and most special friend! I love you to no end. ~~

I read that thread. She really didn't make fun of you. Yes, she corrected your phrasing ( and I think she was right) but she didn't mock you or imply that you were stupid. I think maybe you were being overly sensitive.

If you and she had been arguing and she said "Well who would listen to someone that says' another words,' then that would have been derogatory, but she just casually pointed out a mistake.

You don't have to worship the ground they walk on or anything, but as a citizen of this country, you should at the very least respect the uniform they wear.

Just in case someone hasn't told you, if it wasn't for those men and women that wear that uniform and make that choice to join the military; you wouldn't be sitting behind that keyboard spouting off any kind of opinion. They are the ones that fight for your continued freedoms they have more than earned the right to have your respect.

Some people simply need to stop talking. They are only making themselves look more ignorant.

Foot in mouth syndrome is running rampant around here.

What really amazes me about some of the behaviour that I see on this board is that it is part of a Disney related message board. I think I can safely say that the majority of people joined the Dis for either their love of Disney or were wanting more information on things related to Disney. Frankly, the behaviour from some people on here is about as far from The true spirit of all things Disney as possible. Isn't Disneyworld supposed to be one of the happiest places on earth? Some of the posters who are displaying the atrocious behaviour as seen recently on the Dis are those same posters who complain about seeing atrocious behaviour in the parks. Perhaps some people need to take a long hard look at themselves and think before they post.

this! absolutely!

i'm so very sorry, but a soldier has done SO much more for me personally than any celebrity could ever do. a soldier risks his/her life daily for me, without asking for anything in return. a celebrity entertains me and collects my money. i don't discount that many celebrities have great talent. and i'm thankful that i can be entertained by that talent. but their contributions can, at least in my opinion, not even begin to compare to the contributions of our military.
