It took us so long to decide on my mom's and in the end, I think SHE picked out. As my sister was going through my mom's nightstand she found a prayer card from when our great-grandmother passed away in the 1950s. On it was this:

"Death can never separate those who are bound together by the ties of pure love."

As soon as she read it she called me and we just KNEW that was what we should put on her headstone. It was perfect.

Your mother's is beautiful!

On my son Aaron's headstone: "His courage, his smile, his grace, gladdened the hearts of those who had the priviledge of loving him" and underneath that reads "Our little Aar-Bear".

On my son Ryan's: "We held you in our arms for such a short time, but we'll hold you in our hearts forever" and underneath that reads "Our little Ry-Ry".

The two sayings are beautiful. When my husband died we put son, husband, father and I had a fight over that with my Mother in Law. Long story.

My grandmother, who is in the final stages of illness, wants to be "put" (still working out the details on that) with my grandfather who has been cremated. On the headstone we are going to put, "Together in life, not seperated by death."

On my DH's it reads: "Remember when.."

It was the Alan Jackson song that made me decide on that - it fit our lives perfectly.. Nothing else sounded quite right.. Of course all his military info is on there too..

Now my DD and my son-in-law are real comedians.. They're always busting on me because I have never had a speeding ticket and I always drive just a tad below the speed limit.. So - they have decided that mine should read:

"Died going 54 and a half..." :teeth:

My sisters says, you will always be remembered and loved. My mom saw it when we were looking at monuments and I said it was nice too. Says a little but means alot. My mom wanted the other stuff, engraving,flowers type thing to match her and my dads so I said sure.

My parents are buried together but under my dad's name, it says "In God's Care" and under my mom's it says "Safely Home". Safely Home is a poem that gave me a lot of comfort after my mom died. It gives me comfort now to know she is safe in Heaven with my dad.

Safely Home
I am home in heaven, dear ones;
Oh so happy and so bright!
There is perfect joy and beauty
In this everlasting light.
All the pain and grief is over,
Every restless tossing passed;
I am now at peace forever,
Safely home in heaven at last.
Did you wonder how I so calmly
Trod the valley of the shade?
Oh, but Jesus' love illumined
Every dark and fearful glade.
And he came himself to meet me
In that way so hard to tread;
And with Jesus' arm to lean on,
Could I have one doubt or dread?
Then you must not grieve so sorely,
For I love you dearly still;
Try to look beyond earth's shadows,
Pray to trust our Father's will.
There is work still waiting for you,
So you must not idly stand;
Do it now, while life remains,
You shall rest in Jesus' land.
When that work is all completed,
He will gently call you home;
Oh, the rapture of that meeting,
Oh, the joy to see you come!

Mine will say:
Daughter, sister, wife and nawnaw (it's what my nephew calls me :confused3 )
Crossed the Rainbow Bridge to play with the animals.

Corny, I know but it's me.

That's great!

On top of my mom's it also says In God's Care.

We joked around that we should have put on it "We'll miss your meatballs" since she was an amazing cook. LOL

My mother loved the song Wind Beneath my Wings. My dad didn't get it. She used to say her kids and grandkids were the wind beneath her wings. A few days after she died, my dad found a letter she had written. To no one imparticular, I think she was just putting it down on paper why she felt the kids and grandkids were the wind beneath her wings. Dad GOT it then. He finally realized we were the reason she lived.

On here grave marker, it says 'The Wind is Now Beneath my Wings."

On my step-father's it says Husband, Son, Father and Papa Honey (which is what my son called him) which is a cute story lol

My son was 2 and my mother was calling my step-dad from another room, she yelled honey! And my son just started calling him Papa Honey he had just called him papa before 9the kid has so many grandpas so the were called Papa so and so except for my mom (grandma) and her husband (Papa) and then papa honey I guess he thought Don needed a second name lol
