What is with 11 year olds?

I work in a junior high with 11 -13 year olds and I ask that question ALL the time!!

They are trying so hard to grow up, they just don't know how.

My grandpa used to explain the confusion of this age with "They're too old to chase the ice cream truck but too young to shave"

You certainly have your hands full. Actually, I wanted a girl. Good thing I found out what it was beforehand. It gave me time to adjust. Wouldn't trade him now!

It certainly seems to be an awkward age. Or is that phase?

With my 12 year old, we are currently in phase II!

Let's hope its a phase that fades away....then they turn 16

My son is almost 11 and he is starting to get crazy. Sometimes he drives me crazy. He has started with the attitude and the rolling of the eyes. It is funny, he doesn't want to spend too much time with us, but he gets mad because he thinks little sister, 3, gets too much attention. It should be an interesting next couple of years.

I now have an official teenager as of Monday. DH and I are enjoying the phase.

Nothing better than a teen with an attitude and we break into to song or start whining or hugging her....for us it is payback time!....
She hasn't been an easy kid since birth and in all honesty is better now. OR we have completely gone off the deep end.

My DS 11 drives me nut -- but he has been doing that since he could talk.

My other DS 13 never talks back, always does what he is told -- we figure we just skipped the teen anxiety with him and went straight to the middle child. All their teachers always say "Can't believe they are brothers". They both have their qualities.....
