What is up with West Jet prices to Orlando?

We booked at $380 with WestJet for May. I booked in December. I could have had flights for $340 if I was willing to arrive after 11 pm which I've done before and hated so I paid the extra to leave in the morning.

Anyone flying from Vancouver? Trying to find out what's considered a good price

It's now at $913 from Toronto to Orlando with Westjet for May. At this point, I think they are just messing with me.

I'v been tracking all of the flights from YYZ to MCO since late October, so I know we didn't miss out on a low fare- it's been really high the whole time. All of April, May, and June are above $800 for that flight unless you leave before 7am and return late at night.

AC is also above $700. Never seen this before!

Have to agree WestJet prices do start a lot higher now. I just booked for Feb 2018 (flights were just released) and the cheapest flight direct from Toronto to Orlando was still 470.00 return per person. I have a WJ CC so I used a companion 99.00 fare and some WJ$ to lower the fares down to 700.00 for the two of us.

I noticed this as well. They are crazy expensive compared to everyone else. From Edmonton to MCO is averaging around 450 per person with everyone else but Westjet who is sitting at around 680 per person. Craziness.

We don't want to fly Rouge as the baggage fees and overall abysmal service/tiny seats make it not worthwhile, but even they are up to $650/ ticket. Hopper app is telling me to wait, but it's getting too close for comfort.

I stopped flying Westjet a few years ago when I noticed they double their prices during March break. I'll drive to Detroit and happily take Delta. Even though Westjet flies direct from my city, they only fly out once a week and we arrive >8pm at MCO which is just too late.

I totally understand what you mean. My trip is far enough off, but I have just started using Hopper, others have had good feedback, but I'm so scared to miss out on the flight that I want, I usually end up paying to much, I never wait it out like they say. Have others on here had success waiting it out with Hopper?

:offtopic: Was looking for Toronto to Vancouver (WestJet) and it was $385 OW- but San Diego and Los Angeles were about $205 and Dublin and London were cheaper than Vancouver, too. It's crazy-making :rolleyes2

Wow! I WISH we could get deals like this. We are a family of 6 and I want to drve because I cannot find anything less than $520/person (Winnipeg).

So, my experience with the Hopper app is that it seems to be a great tool if you are willing to be super flexible with your flight times. However, if you are set on certain flight times for departures and arrivals, it's not very helpful.

Just did a check now, for our trip 5-14 Dec 17, we had booked Tues travel days as they are usually the cheapest for international travel... Westjet is showing YQR-YYZ-MCO and return for CDN$2636.56 for their Plus (if you're going to spend that much time in an airplane, you might as well be comfortable!). Even if we were to reschedule our trip and go Thurs to Thurs, when Westjet flies direct to MCO from YQR, it is still $CDN2426.54. I am currently tracking Delta airlines flight, with Delta Comfort+, out of Saskatoon (YXE-MSP-MCO) that is, currently showing $CDN1361.00. We just got back from a trip and even with the added expense of travelling to/from Saskatoon and two nights in the hotel, it was still cheaper than a Westjet flight.

I think that is a good price for WJ. I am also looking for Feb 2018 and even flights out of Detroit are looking around $600 CND per person for nonstop flights. I also have an WJ MC with companion flight and dollars available and have been looking at WJ and they are over $700 each for our dates in Feb. Wish I could find one for $470 return!

I wanted to use my companion fare for YYC to MCO but WestJet has been sitting at ~$800/person since I started looking we just booked with Delta via Expedia instead for $732.23 RT for both of us... I might end up losing the companion fare this year because I also grabbed a KILLER seat sale for our June Disneyland trip for $588 RT for us both and I'm out of vacation time this year but considering how little our flights cost us this year I'll deal with it.

Anyone flying from Vancouver? Trying to find out what's considered a good price
Yes! We do. I like Alaska Airline. They have a nice direct flight from Seattle to MCO. They have a YVR to SeaTac connecting flight, sometimes with horizon.
For August trip I paid $579 for a YVR to Ft Lauderdale to LAX to YVR! We are spending some time in Ft Lauderdale, then going to DL then flying home.

I've driven to Seattle a lot to get the cheaper fares, sometimes as low as $300. But fares have been creeping up, and the past few years I've not found as much advantage flying from Seattle. The price difference isn't as much anymore. Not for 2 of us anyway. When you calculate in over night hotel in SeaTac.
Now I'm doing good finding fares for $500ish.

I'm watching fares for Alaska for next Nov/Dec. wow they are high. Other airlines are lower, but I prefer Alaska. And it will be a cold day before I fly United. Yikes.

we are now westjet fans for life. on our honeymoon we booked air canada to MCO, and westjet back home. air canada charged us almost $100 in extra fees a few hours before our flight just to sit together. on our westjet flight home we were assured we would get to sit together with no extra cost.

also baggage fees with air canada were $50 each, westjet only $35 each.

i really wanted to snag the nonstop flights for our feb 2018 cruise so i was willing to pay about $1265 for the 2 of us, round trip. from Ottawa Canada. :)

I've seen that with WestJet when we look for flights out of YYZ to MCO. But they do have seat sales frequently and that's the only time we fly with them. We booked our upcoming trip for just slightly over $300 PP return incl. taxes which to me is amazing.
How far ahead of your flight date did you book - wondering when to start looking for next April? Want non-stop flight from Toronto YYZ to MCO.

I booked a "mock" ticket through WJ a few days ago.

2 adults return - Sun Nov 5 depart am, Friday Nov. 17 return leaves Orlando 2ish pm. Direct from Pearson to MCO.

More than $1600. I have $1000 budgeted for flights which is still extreme IMO.

Not sure what my next plan of attack will be but I refuse to pay $1600 for 2 butts.

I emailed WestJet last week asking if they planned to add any additional flights to what is already scheduled for when I am looking early 2018. The reply said that they could not disclose whether any additional flights would be added for my dates but that the winter schedule would not be complete until end of June and advised not to book until then. I usually book as soon as flights are released but for our dates Feb 2 return Feb 10 there are very few direct flights from Toronto, London, Kitchener or Hamilton. We are going on a cruise so can't book a flight earlier than noon coming home. There no direct flights to any southwestern Ontario airport! I thought February would be prime time for flights to Orlando! We have never flown on a Canadian airline to Florida previously only from Detroit and I am so surprised at the lack of direct flights. Hopefully more are added. We have a WestJet Elite MC with a companion voucher and free bags which is why we want to fly with them this year as well as right now prices for flights out of DTW are not that different than CND airlines so far.

The bolded in your post 1000% accurate! I booked flights out of Kitchener on Westjet last May via Expedia for this past January. The system allowed me to book and pay for RT tickets on a Tuesday -- was an awesome price too BTW, just a tad more than $650.00 for both of us. Quickly secured non-refundable stay at OKW thru David's rental ..... fast forward to July when i found out that they would NOT be flying on Tuesdays this winter -- Thursdays only and not till a full week after we needed to leave. Wait until they have announced next year's winter schedule. All of the regional airports will have only one flight per week but Pearson will have several daily direct flights.

BTW, WestJet never alerted us to the cancellation of the flight.
