Iced coffe when it's hot.. Hot coffeewhen it's cold.. It's that easy

I've been drinking iced coffee for about 10 years now.... way before it became the "in thing." I was introduced to it by my favorite local coffee shop at the time (which has since gone out of business since Starbucks opened a shop two doors down :sad2: ).

However, I *hate* sweetened iced coffee. And I hate when they just pour hot coffee over ice because then it's just a melty, watery mess.

I like it unsweetened with just a bit of half/half. :thumbsup2

I keep a couple of ice cube trays of coffee in the freezer--try this for other things, too, like lemonade or punch

Iced coffee is hardly an "in thing" in New England. It's been a drink staple for certainly as long as I can remember. I've been drinking it myself for about 20yrs now.

People drink iced tea - why not iced coffee?

Yep, I asked my Dad about how long iced coffee's been around & he says at least since the '50's.
With all the New Englanders down south, I'm surprised this 'craze' hasn't hit long before!

Have we introduced you to coffee syrup used in milk & over ice cream?
Coffee milk, coffee cabinets (frappes, shakes)--yum!
How about coffee ice cream?

I maybe weird but has anyone tried the Mocha BK Joe from Burger King? OMG, I love those:love: .Thats the only thing besides the Frozen coke that I get from BK.I really like them alot though.

I'm addicted to those! You know they have to be bad for you, because they taste so good. I don't like McD's iced coffees though. Just the Joe.

Iced coffee is great. Pretty much the only type I drink!

I remember my parents drinking iced coffee, as well as espresso, cappuccinos and eating coffee ice cream, in California in the 60's and 70's. But they brought their tastes with them from Europe, and I do agree that in most areas, it's only become "big" more recently. Mom had to make her own, you couldn't find the stuff in 4-packs of little bottles at the grocery store. ;)

When I lived in FL in the late 90's there was eclipse coffee syrup at Publix, but no autocrat which is far superior.
Maple Walnut and Coffee ice creams were pretty hard to find. Don't know if that's changed

I only drink Iced Coffee. It could be 30 degrees and snowing outside and I would still drink it. For some reason I just don't like hot drinks. I'll have an occasional hot chocolate but never hot coffee :confused3

I love the Mocha BK Joe's too. I don't get them very often though. The caramel iced coffee from McD's is pretty good too. My favorite though is from Aroma Joe's in New Hampshire. They have the best Iced Chocolate Milano coffee...so good and so addicting :teeth:

I've never tried an iced coffee. The closest thing I've had to an iced coffee is when I'm so busy I put my cup down and don't pick it up again for an hour or so.

It's not hot but it's caffeinated so it will do. It's not bad cool. I just like to start off with it nice and hot, no matter what the season. That's just me.

Craze? Hmm. My mom was drinking ice coffee, and giving me sips after I was 10, back in...well that would be '79.

They are just meeting a need that many have had. I like hot coffee, with a meal of spaghetti. But I like iced coffee, or iced latte, any time with anything.
