What is the worst packing mistake you ever made?

On two separate trips we have forgotten a already packed bag when travelling to DL. The first time, my 18 month DGD had no change of clothes, so she got some cute new outfits from WoD on her first trip to DL! We couldn't find socks for her, though, so we had to wash her one pair every night in the sink.

On another trip in Dec, my DH and I left a bag at home that contained most of our toiletries, underwear and all of our long pants. A trip to Traget got us toiletries and underwear, but we managed to survive with our heavy coats over our shorts! -- Suzanne

Not DL related, but we once drove 3 hours from home to go camping. Got there and discovered we had forgot to pack the tent!

In 2006, we took a long awaited, well planned trip to WDW for eight nights with our two DD, aged 2 and 6 at the time. I can't even tell you how much stuff we brought on that trip!! But, the one item that still cracks up the friend who drove us to the airport.....wait for it:

The paper towel holder!! Yep, I packed one of the spindle types to use with the roll of paper towels that I ordered as part of our grocery order from Garden Grocer. My reasoning was that we needed paper towels and I didn' want our roll to just be rolling around in the germs of the hotel room.:rotfl:

We've gone to DL and WDW a few times since then, and my friend always asks me if I've packed our paper towel holder.:rotfl:

On a quick weekend trip with my cousin and her kids, I forgot my oldest daughter's underwear. Luckily my cousin packed extra undies for her son, so DD (who was 7 at the time) wore a pair of his underwear.

The favor was returned earlier this year when my cousin dropped her son off at my house. Right before we had to leave for school he says that he doesn't have any underwear on. So he had to wear a pair of DD's underwear. (He is only 7)

I forgot to pack my DS's sons shorts... any shorts. And we were staying in a hotel for 3 days. Somehow when I was packing, I got distractd before I got his shorts into the suitcase. (They were still folded on my bed when we got home.)
Luckily, I realized about halfway there. So we started looking out for somewhere off the freeway, and stopped in Norwalk, there is a thrift store right off the freeway. So we grabbed him some shorts, but also found my son one of the Nightmare Before Christmas pullover that sell in the park for only $4! And my daughter a Snow White dress for $3!
But since then, it is kind of a habit for me, because the next time we stayed overnight, I forgot to pack my daughter a change of clothes for the next day. oops! Luckily we were staying at the Park Vue, and their gift shop had a cute little princess outfit for $10. So yay!

Two months ago,I had 'everything' ready to go. After 7 1/2 hrs and 500+ miles of driving,I realized I left my shoes and shaver at the foot of my bed. :sad2:
Ended up cruising DL in a pair of sandals and sportin a 5:00 shadow for 2 days.

Thanks everyone for keeping me amused while I pack and/or sit on hold...today it's super shuttle 10 min on hold so far...and counting

I think the worst packing mistake I have ever made was.. not enough socks! Or bringing the wrong shoes..

Not bringing extra pairs of shoes when we were going on a rainy weekend. I ended up killing the hairdryer at DLH (Sorry Mickey) by trying to dry out our shoes with it. And yes, we do live 20 mins away and could have driven home for more....

Oh speaking of hairdryers.. I once forgot on a trip my hair stuff that spikes my hair up and the hairspray that freezes it! that is not good to forget, specially for me.

One time my parents were going to Europe or something like that and this was like back in the day when they didn’t have restrictions on suitcase and packing, anyhow my mom had this really large rolling suitcase, I mean this thing is big an she had packed so much into it that she made my dad and I sit on it while she zipped it up..
:lmao:

I had a brand new can of the large Aussie hair spray explode in my suitcase on the flight to WDW once. Luckily I always put it in a ziplock bag so there was no sticky hairspray all over the suitcase. Now I always make sure never to take a brand new can that hasn't had any sprayed out yet.

I love the ziplock bag. Never travel without it

We had a instance like that once too. But it was a 14 hour flight to Australia! My mom’s infusium spray exploded in her overhead baggage, and was dripping all over the person behind her.. :scared1::sad2: it was awfull. I was so embarrassed!

I forgot my own underpants one year.... packed everything else... shirts, shorts, socks etc.... everything but the underpants.... Was considering just going commando but figured with the amount of walking in the parks there may be some serious chaffing where one does not want it! So we make a quick pit stop at Target on Harbor and all was good! :thumbsup2

omg CD!

Has anyone ever put ribbons on their luggage to which ones is theirs but then when you get your stuff at the luggage unloading area you come to find out that someone else had the same ribbon idea with the same color as you.. and identical luggage(or close to it) ?

OMG that would make me crazy as I always do something like that to find our bags.

This trip since we are using the hard sided suitcase I am adding LGMHs so I figure if this happens this trip I will at least get to meet a fellow DIS member.

AS my DH always says, "We are not going to Timbuktu." There is really no packing mistake when a Target is nearby, unless you forget to pack something like tickets, passport, etc.!!!

There is just things us woman can’t live with out an have to pack. like a hairdryer given hotels have one. But come on they are not as powerful as the ones we have at home. So that gets packed.. and hot irons….yes men that is a necessity ,and of course some woman use special shampoo, and generic from CVS just won’t cut it..

I have to pack my makeup, too. More often then not, if I forget it and try to go buy it at the local drug store, they don't have my shade(s).

I have a black suitcase that looks like about 2 dozen other suitcases on any given flight. So I put stripes on one end of it with blue painters' tape. I can see that baby coming down the carousel, no problem!

I always figure that if we have our medicines, our ID and credit cards, our plane and park tickets, and our cell phones with charger, then everything else is gravy!

I have a travel charger in my purse always. Bought it on a trip where I managed to forget both the regular and car charger for my cell phone. never leave home without one now. I swear it is one of the things I used to leave most often. Usually because I couldn't pack it early as I would have my phone on it overnight then unplug the phone to make a call and forget all about it.
