What is the purpose of the hand stamp for re-entry?

Kinda makes sense but wouldn't Disney know that your AP has already been scanned earlier in the day?

Seeing the handstamp is probably faster than reading the screen to see if its a re-entry?

Kind of un-related, but does anybody else try to see the picture in the stamp, besides me?? Also, I like the smell!! :rotfl:

Well, it isn't a picture, but a word and yes, I always check LOL :)

you know whats funny? I have never been asked to show a hand stamp with AP...not even when it was to the point that they werent selling one day tickets due to max crowds...thats weird:confused3

I have, been asked to get one and asked to show it as well.

Yes, but as PP said, they don't know what park you've in, if you were in DCA and are trying to get into DL and they have closed that park to new guests you won't be allowed in if you have a handstamp from DCA. Does that make sense?

Years ago, they would sometimes use Dumbo stamps...

When we went to WDW, my husband's fingerprint scan never worked, and it was such a PITA. Every time they had him scan a new finger, or a thumb. It could have been anyone's ticket at that point!

Ok, so potential thread hijack, but has anyone ever been asked for info to "validate" a multi-day hopper ticket?

My wife and mother-in-law both have APs, and I went with them plus my pair of toddlers this weekend. My own ticket was a 3-day hopper. On the 2nd day, upon entering DLR, a CM ran right up to me and asked me #1 whether it's my first day in the park, #2 what city I'm from, and #3 my ZIP code. I told her everything (I'm from the Bay so ummm semi-local I guess?), she jotted it down, said thanks and left me alone.

Not sure what that was about, but pretty sure it was to prevent ticket fraud, e.g., I use my ticket for the 1st and then sell it to someone else to use for the remaining days. I've been to DLR countless times and have never had that happen before? Was I giving off particularly "gangsta" vibes that day or is that some kind of new protocol?

No, that wasn't to prevent fraud at all, it was a survey they do sometimes when you go in. :) They've asked us those questions multiple times as well.
I have been asked to validate my ticket use, but only when adding days and/or upgrading to an AP.

So true. Last January I ran the WDW marathon. My wife and son saw me finish at EPCOT (I won't say how slow I am, but they did most of the park before I got there). Then we met at the finish area and walked back to the entrance.

I was sort of out of it, being both tired and happy, and it was our first day in any park that visit. So when I used my ticket I put some finger from some hand in the scanner.

Next day, next park, I had no idea which finger or hand I had even used the prior day. It took a lot of trial and error, and nasty stares from the people behind me on line, which I fully understand, while I eventually found some finger on one of my hands that matched what I had done the previous day.

It was embarrassing.
