What is the premium dining plan?

What does it include and how much does it cost? Is it adding on to the basic dining plan or is it a completely different dining plan. I was wondering because we don't usually do counter service, instead we sit down for breakfast and dinner each day, so the basic dining plan doesn't quite fit our style.

from the way I understand it you get 3 meals a day instead of 2..you get the same snacks. there are some other perks you can read about it on waltdisneyworld.com

I read on here that it boils down to about an additional $140/ day (I assume per person). Anyone confirm that? But, it includes 3 meals per day per person almost anywhere! Including all the 2 credit signature restaurants and all dinner shows. It's pretty impressive. I'm going to take advantage of it someday when DH says we can afford it. :0) I actually think it'd be good for you if you don't want to waste your meals at CS places. You'll especially get your $ worth if you dine at the signature places like California Grill, Hollywood Brown Derby, etc. or the dinner shows. Personally, I'd do a different dinner show each night if I was on the plan just to get more bang for the buck.
Bottom line, it's its own dining plan not an addition to the regular one and I'd make ADRs for 3 meals a day even if you're sharing a lunch because it's paid for.

Thanks for your responses. It sounds awesome, but I think that DVC members wont be offered the option of this package. Maybe in the years to come.

yikes! with the giant portions at disney how could anyone eat 3 ts a day?

One forkful at a time ;)

Seriously, it can be done, but you have to *really* love to plan, really love to eat, and really love a schedule. If you schedule all of your meals at 8 hour increments you're good to go.

Another reason to use the Premium plan is if you intend to use the recreation options (parasailing, horsebackriding, rent sea raycers, etc.), go on some tours, see Cirque, leave no minute unplanned ;)

I really enjoyed all of the plans, but now, going with my mom who isn't a foodie and would not hold up to that type of pace, or just going solo, APs and no Premium or Platinum Plan it is :)

I was thinking the same thing and we are pretty big eaters in my family ;)

If you are just going to use the plan for meals, then you will be wasting your money. It would be a monumental task to scarf down $140 worth of food, every single day, for your entire vacation. However, if you plan on doing a bunch of tours, golfing, recreation (boats, horseback riding, etc), and Cirque, then you can get your money's worth out of it.

If you are only going to go to the parks, and you will be eating two TS meals a day, then get the regular dining plan and use your TS credits for your most expensive meals. You will save money even if you don't use your CS credits or snack credits.
