I can't seen to find it on the online dining website....Do I need to call MS to make resies?

It is called Hacienda de San Angel. It will not be available for reservations until later in the week (15th I think, maybe 16th.)

I don't know that I would call it new, but since it has a new name and I hear they over hauled the menu from when it was San Angel Inn...then I guess new is in order.
We'll have to wait and see if it's actually any different. :confused3 The one from before was not good IMO, living in Texas it will probably take a bit for me to be impressed. Rest assured it wasn't considered authentic or even mediocre at best. :sad2: I'm anxious to start hearing reviews on the "new" place. :thumbsup2

There is a new Tequila bar there now, they serve appies but not a full menu per say and there aren't reservations taken there. This is called La Cava del Tequila, I hear wonderful reviews.

Yes, it is new, and it was not the San Angel Inn. The San Angel Inn still exists inside the Mexico pavilion and it isn't going anywhere.

Last year, the outdoor Cantina de San Angel counter service was closed, torn down, and rebuilt as two separate restaurants in the same building, Cantina (CS) and Hacienda (TS, open for dinner only). These two new restaurants are set to open this week.

When that happens, Mexico will have two table service restaurants (Inn inside and Hacienda outside), a counter service (Cantina, outside) and a lounge (La Cava, inside).

Ahhhh. Now all the mess while we were there makes sense! Last I heard they were giving San Angel a make over along with the menu. Which is in much need. ::yes:: And the outside counter service was getting an update. :confused3 Oh well!
Sorry for the confusion OP.
Glad this wasn't handled with an attitude.

I am waiting to hear when we can start making ADRs- DD and I really want to eat at La Hacienda when we visit in mid-November!

Me too - have an ADR at the Inn which I'm going to try to switch ;)

And I though it was called, The big giant ugly building in World Showcase!

Hmmm, I have an ADR at San Angel Inn for end of Jan. Thought my grandsons would enjoy watching the boat ride sail through as we ate.

Now wondering if I should try for La Hacienda? What is the difference between the two? Is La Hacienda for outside eating only? Being we will be there the end of Jan maybe it would be safer (warmer) to sit inside at the Inn :confused3

What do you think? Not looking for anything fancy, DGS are 7, 5 and 3 years old. So just want something that they would enjoy :thumbsup2

Thanks, Karen

The new Hacienda has both CS and TS. CS is at lunch (and maybe dinner, too?? Not sure)- TS is for dinner only. CS is outside seating, TS is inside seating and all the tables will have lagoon views. If you are at all interested in seeing Illuminations after dinner, the Hacienda would be a great ADR to get.

The Inn is inside the pavilion- the restaurant is made to look like you are outside with the river going by and a view of the volcano that "erupts" occasionally.

As for food, I think the Inn is a bit more "fancy". The Hacienda has more Tex Mex-sounding stuff, and I haven't seen the menu for the CS, but I suppose it will be similar to what the old Cantina had- nachos, burritos, tacos, etc.

I have an 11 year old DD, and we are hoping to get an evening ADR at the Hacienda so we can have a meal and see Illuminations from a great spot.

It is brand new. It is where the outside counter service was. It will not be tex-mex food ( I am looking for where I read this).

I found it on wdwnewstoday:

"Any favorite menu items?
We have three or four spectacular appetizer items at La Hacienda. The trend in Mexican food is appetizers, such as mini tacos. [One that sounds especially delicious is chiles toreados y chorizitos, roasted sweet peppers with lime and sea salt and mini chorizos (pork sausage).] And I really like the skillet entrées – skillets with cuts of meat, veggies, seafood, to make your own taco. I’m still tweaking the menu!

How does La Cantina menu change?
The Cantina menu will focus on tacos with meat or chicken, properly grilled, and garnished with fresh pico de gallo. We want to create an authentic Mexican taco, something that locals would buy at the market. Less Tex-Mex, more regional authentic Mexico."

From the MouseForLess site:

"• The all-new full-service restaurant, La Hacienda de San Angel located in Epcot, will open daily at 4 p.m. beginning Sept. 16. Reservations will become available later in September for October 15 arrivals and later. Next door, La Cantina de San Angel, the quick-service restaurant, will also open on Sept. 16 and will operate from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m."

"Cantina de San Angel is closed and will reopen as La Hacienda San Angel on September 15. Reservations are being excepted for dinner starting October 15. "

I'm anxious to hear the reviews for both the new Mexico table service and the counter service restaurants. I sure hope that there's something on the menu that a super picky 13 year old will eat. ;)

This was the original description, but I just want to iterate that it is now incorrect. Hacienda and Cantina are two restaurants, with Hacienda being a dinner only TS and Cantina being a Lunch and Dinner CS (and Cantina using part of Hacienda's indoor dining room for Lunch).

There also appears to be some outdoor seating for Hacienda, but the majority as mentioned will be indoors.

They need to trim this line from their story ;). Cantina is reopening (now) as Cantina. Hacienda is opening as Hacienda. (Note, not "re"opening, since it never did in the first place). I know it's nitpicky, but it's one of those things ya know ;).

There has been a menu example posted (link is in my FAQ below as well), it's not detailed yet, and doesn't have a kids menu that may have the typical cheese pizza ;). I'd guess there'd be something, but my guesses usually end up wrong ><.
