What is the most you'll pay for airfare?

Actually I can thank Delta for that fare since that is who we got the flights from. Love their non-stop at 7:00 a.m. in Florida just after 9:30 and then the return leaves around 6:00 p.m. so we have most of the day to do a park.

We have flown Air Tran the past 4 trips and paid @$215 roundtrip each...fees and paying to select our seats. Now that Air Tran has been bought by Southwest we are gonna be forced to pay closer to $350 roundtrip each . Air Tran is having to leave DFW and we will only have the choice of AA if we want a direct flight. Southwest would be almost the same cost as AA and we'd have to change planes, not be guaranteed seats together and use an Airport we dislike so no thank you!

Only thing is Delta charges bag fees. So for the four of us, we'd be spending an extra $100.

For us the baggage fee that we have to pay only will be $75 since we have 3 checked bags. That is the beauty of having a 2 bedroom villa and the in room washer/dryer - less packing needed. Even with the baggage fee added each way we are still under $900 total for 4 people. In checking airfare out of Hartford for a possible second trip we can't come close to that at this point so I am still thrilled with our pricing!!

Check in at DVC resorts is 4p. Frequently units aren't available early. You could take the first DME bus out of MCO (6a?) but don't count on having a unit ready.

Use Priceline or Hotwire to get a hotel in the airport zone.

I don't think a room will be ready. This will be our first time using DVC. In the past we've had regular rooms ready at 7 AM, but like I said, I'm not counting on it. We would like to use the amenities. Since we're checking into Club Level, we'll be able to use the lounge and no matter how tired my kids are, they'll want to jump in the pool.

You have to assume your room won't be ready until 4p. The club lounge isn't a place to nap. I doubt your kids will get much sleep at the airport. Is going 36-40 hours without real sleep a good way to start your vacation? Use Hotwire or PL. You should be able to get a hotel in the airport zone for $50-$75, maybe a little less.

Some of the lower star rated hotels don't offer a shuttle 24/7.

If you can fly all 4 of you for only $1000 then jump on it. I looked and for me the cheapest thing I can find is almost $400 per person round trip. Before taxes and baggage fees.

Don't worry, we're not going to nap in the club lounge. If I'm paying the extra points for CL, we plan on getting our meals there because I don't have any ADR's set up for that day.

We've driven all night to Disney and still had the energy to get up and go once we get there. We're not visiting any parks so we'll stay close to the hotel pool. When our villa is finally available, we'll be able to rest.

Most of the food court will be closed when you land. One place is open 24/7 (Starbucks?) with very little food available that late. The Hyatt has a restaurant (Hemisphere?) with a late night menu.

You'll be landing with no place to sleep and limited places to eat. I'd get a hotel via PL, Probably around $50. You're determined to crash at MCO for 6 hours? Bring extra food and singles for possible use in vending machines.

Maybe I'm too cynical but if your entire family sleeps in the airport at the same time your luggage could get stolen.

Sleep in where? Our hotel check-in starts on 6/25. If we get in at 2 AM on 6/25, it's considered the night of 6/24. I doubt they'll have pity on us and give us an extra night for free. We can't wait around the AKL lobby so we'll just tough it out in the airport.
This is your vacation, and your money, so you have to decide how to spend it. But, there is NO WAY ON GOD'S GREEN EARTH that I would land at the airport at 2AM and not have some place to crash a few hours that night.

I think the priceline/hotwire suggestion is incredibly smart.

I'm looking at $400-$450 Canadian (all taxes and baggage fees incl) return per person - leaving for Atlantic Canada - for March 2012

The flight lands at midnight. 2am was the time he projected arriving at AKV, if he took DME after landing.

DME doesn't really run 24/7. It stops running after the last passengers, with a DME reservation arrives. It starts in the morning as the first flights with guests holding DME reservations land. Maybe 6a.

Land at midnight and not have a room for 16 hours. NOT THE WAY I'D start a vacation but different people allocate their vacation resources differently.

my bench mark is $200pp R/T. So far, in 8 trips to Disney I have never had to pass that mark, usually lower by at least $20-40. This year I'm looking at an early morning non-stop down on SWA and a late evening return (LD weekend) also non-stop on Delta for $99 each way so a total of about $220. I have not booked yet (nerves of steel!!!) and am waiting for 6/30-7/1 when, for the past 5 years, Delta has run a sale on BDL-MCO flights. At least I think I can wait. $99 is not bad, especially for LD weekend. I'll take a carry-on only if Delta is involved so no baggage fees.

Ugh. We try to never pay more than $225 or so per person. Not a reality this year, I am afraid.

We are doing o/w tix - just going with whomever is cheapest/best times for both directions. Just bought our tix down about 10 minutes ago. Airtran was 125/each way...but realllllly bad flight times. I thought about playing the odds that they would mess with the flight time and I could change...but really none of the flights they have were appealing.

So, I saw Sun Country had a very good (for them) price today of $165 after taxes....so I grabbed it. The flight time is wonderful - non stop 8a - 12p. So...I bit the bullet.

Just hoping to not spend over $140 each to come back. And decent time. I could get on Airtran right now for $104...but it would mean catching the Magical Express at 3am. NO THANK YOU!

Just booked Southwest out of Baltimore for July. $1047 for 5 people. :cool1:
We were going to drive but I don't think I could make the roundtrip with gas, food and lodging any cheaper. I was getting so nervous watching the gas prices.

Now yesterday I hear the gas prices are supposed to be dropping $0.75 by the time the summer gets here.:headache: We can't win. Hopefully this at least drops my airfare to Orlando a little.

The prices have stayed the same since Friday ($144 p/p, o/w). If they don't go down today, I think we're biting the bullet and just buying our tickets. The flight I really want is $298 p/p, o/w. I can't justify spending that type of money only going o/w.

Once I figure in gas, food, and lodging, airfare looks like it nets about $300 more than driving. For me, that is well worth the 4 days in the car.
