What Is The Most Underated Resort?

Just Curious,
All you Disney experts, what is your most underated resort on Disney property and why? Here is my list of the 3 most underated resorts:
3. Port Orleans French Quarter
2. Old Key West
And the Number 1 underated resort at Disney
Drum Roll Please!!!!!
1. Boardwalk Inn
You really don't hear a lot about the Boardwalk Inn. If you think about the whole reason the Boardwalk entertainment district was built was for the Boardwalk Inn Resort. Many people visit the Boardwalk as an attraction in itself. The lobby is very beautiful, the pool is fun, and the views are great!

Heh the only reason I wouldnt consider Port Orleans French Quarter is because I can see the real French Quarter pretty much anytime I want. My fiance lives in New Orleans. There's no way a recreation can ever remotely compare to the real thing. Three years after I saw it for the first time and I still have a special place in my heart for the Crescent City and I think I always will.

If you want New Orleans, come see the real thing. You won't be disappointed.

As for the other two, yeah I found it odd too that people are so quiet about them.

If you want to read gushing about OKW, visit the DVC forum. I think it doesn't get much "press" over here because it is primarily a DVC resort, without a regular hotel attached. We love it, too!

I agree with you. We have stayed at POFQ a couple of times and it is lovely. the grounds are beautiful and is the whole resort.

We had never stayed at OKW until we became DVC members and it is a great resort. It like a little city and Olivias rest is the best and also undrated.

Our favorite is the BW. We first stayed at the Inn twice and fell inlove the the resort. It transports you to another time and place.
plus it is so close to so much. After we listened to the DVC about joining it and finding out our home resort would be the BWV we joined. Now I get to go there whenever I want. We have not found a room or view we did not like and we have stayed all over the hotel. I really think it is one of Disney's big secrets.

Gotta agree with the Boardwalk - I hear virtually nothing about it, yet everytime I go over there I feel like I want to try it on my next visit.

Fort Wilderness! It is so quiet and peaceful. We love to be in cabins and spend quiet time away from parks.

CSR That place is awesome in my opinion. I truely loved the Southwest/Mexico atmosphere. It is quite huge, but that is part of it's beauty. The landscaping is beautiful. I will definitely stay there again!!

I don't hear much about the Boardwalk either, but everytime I go there I would like to try it also. I guess it will fall into place with all the othere 15 resorts I want to try!!

I completely agree that the BWI is extremely underrated. I've heard from CMs that it's supposed to be; it's almost like the best kept resort secret at WDW. The GF is billed as WDW's flagship resort, but I feel that it's actually the BWI.

Hmmmm, my family of 8 split a stay between BWV and VWL and they preferred Wilderness, hands down. And we ranged from 62 to 21 years old.

I was surprised, because I figured the Boardwalk location and all the hub-bub would excite them. Nope, they loved Wilderness. I agreed with them. BWI was extremely nice but we just preferred Wilderness.

Is BWI much different than BWV?

Since the question says the most underrated resort "on Disney property," I would have to say the Swan/Dolphin. It's not a Disney resort, but it is on Disney property. You have all the location advantages of the BC/YC and BW, but you don't have to pay those high Disney rates. We have stayed there on a discount for between $130 and $150 and are considering staying there in December for $99. Swan and Dolphin are both deluxe in every sense of the word, and they have those "heavenly" beds that are so nice. Pool is cool and the CM's are all so helpful.

PORQ My family of 15 stayed there in 1995 and had the best time the kids loved the slide. The food court at that time offered enough to satisfy everyone. The piano player in the lounge kept the adults entertained well into the night. I never understood why this resort was closed for several years.

I like the OP's original list, plus Swan/Dolphin. The Swan/Dolphin has great restaurant selection, excellent beds and room configurations, and their pool complex is the same size as Stormalong Bay (though the theming and features are not as good).

I'd like to nominate the Contemporary Resort. Everyone knows what the shortcomings are, BUT the rooms are the largest or second largest among deluxe resorts (comparison with GF is unclear), it has 3 sit-down restaurants including California Grill (one of the top 2 or 3 restaurants at WDW), a great watersports program, a monorail stop, AND you can walk to MK! Nowhere else can you do that. And you can generally get good rates in the garden wings.

OKW has THE largest rooms on site, and unlike the other DVC resorts, they are often available at reasonable cash rates. Renting points is an even better deal. Only disadvantages: isolation (I'd want to have a car), and no elevators!

My opinion is the Ft. Wilderness Cabins. I was surprised at just how nice the cabin was. The setting is peaceful, the bathroom quite nice, and the maid service made it more like an isolated Embassy Suites than camping. With plenty of room and a nice outdoorsy theme, I think the cabins can't be beat for a family with children.

Boardwalk is #1 on my list to try in the future. Not on one of my mom/child trips, but on our next family trip.

In December I'm planning on staying at POR with my 4yo and in Jan I'm planning on splitting my stay between Pop (where my 11yo wants to stay) and POFQ. I've never stayed at either of the PO resorts and am looking foward to it.

I think the reason that we've never stayed at BW is because we were afraid it would be too noisy, but I love the look of the resort.
