I want to see a few places and think trying a few timeshare franchises that have 3 bedroom options might be a good way to decide which we'd like to buy from, no way I am buying without trying. Trouble I am running into is I don't wanna get burned and lose my deposit to an unscrupulous renter or an outright lying fraud. I actually tried to rent timeshare directly from WDW f or DVCa few times and that fell flat, a cousin loves Marriott but I know there are many. I'm just not really sure what sort of intermediary makes sure renters don't get burned so I figured I'd ask here for opinions, I think this is the main reason I stick with hotels but I'd like to branch out if I can find a safe way.

You should be able to book "cash" for DVC properties through WDW. It's just like any other onsite resort booking for WDW. But no, you cannot "rent" from WDW or DVC directly. There is a very active Rent/Trade section of the DISboards and you can rent from members who post there. Be sure to read the required post on that forum to know the rules.

If you want to rent a traditional timeshare week from someone, I would look at redweek. You can pay a little more and get a reservation that is backed by redweek.

For a DVC rental, I would stick with one of the bigger brokers. DVC rental or David’s.

I’d say for offsite, redweek (choose listings “backed by redweek” that cost more) feels the safest. Just make sure u are logged in and click all the way through to see actual final price after redweek fees.

I save a lot more renting from owners so I go that route. There is extra due diligence involved and extra risk too, of course.

You can also get timeshares via Airbnb but that’s typically more expensive.

If you paid for Redweek via credit card, would you happen to remember if it coded as travel?
