What is the most likely waitlist success?

We had to switch dates…now nothing is available. I’m going to waitlist, but need to know what resorts, other than OKW and SSR are my most likely to come through? Are there any that just generally have better success?

AKV would be next but your dates and room size can make a difference.

The shorter the dates you're staying, the better chance you have. Also, the further away you waitlist, the better too, so start that waitlist asap.

We are going for 4 nights in December and booked a 1 bedroom at Riviera at 11 months out. At 7 months, we waitlisted at Copper Creek and Beach Club. 1 month later, we were booked at Copper Creek, which is exactly what we wanted. And we were surprised too, given how popular it is during the Holidays.

Since you are allowed to waitlist 2 resorts, I would waitlist one of the places that you really want to stay at, and waitlist an easier one such as OKW, AKV, or SS. That way you'll have a much better chance of at least having something. And if you do get one of the easier one's, you can always try and waitlist again.

The other thing about waitlists is that they are all-or-nothing. So, if you have a five-night waitlist, and four of those nights suddenly become available, you will not get them.

So, another strategy is to waitlist night-by-night in the easiest category of the room size you can find (which is probably SSR Standard). Waitlist the first two nights, when one of them matches, add the next night and so on. Once you build your trip, you can play the same game with a "better" resort if you want to. But, I would not turn my nose up at SSR/OKW unless I would rather not go than stay there.

Yes, we’d rather not go than stay there. 😂 Might sound silly but we spend a lot of time at the resort, so resort is important. We pieced something together and got 4 poly/ 4 kidani and 3 club level Jambo (I know-pure luck there). So we are waitlisting the other 4 at poly but I know that I struck gold with that club level so that’s staying.

You could also do another WL for the first 2 nights at Poly If holding that and Kidani won’t cause you to borrow more. You don’t want it to replace because you’d lose the other two nights. You might be able to set up a 2 night waitlist and put a note to modify the kidani down to two nights if it comes through…. But I’d call MS first. If the 2 night came through- you could then set up the second two nights.

it is random.... dates, and resort are a huge factor.

shorter stays are easier to match. longer stays are hard. What I have found is there are so many variables like lock off vs non lockout, views and other items.

You could do you waitlist, but if you don't wait list the correct variables you won't match. It is best to put in your 2, but then stalk the site as much as possible.

I have been lucky stalking, but have also had 1-3 night wait lists come in.
