What is the most beautiful name you've ever heard?

My DD's name is Reece but some of my other favorites are:

Aideen
Dagan
Keira
Rory
Taryn

See most of the people I have mentioned Rayne to think it is beautiful as well. Maybe I'm making to much into it thinking she will be picked on.

I can just see some mean little bully saying "Rayne Rayne go away come again another day."

I think it's pretty and the meaning behind it is what makes it even more special. I assume that you would be talking to her about the meaning behind her name and why it means so much so she would always have that as a retort if anyone said anything. Kids are so weird though, they will find a way to make fun if they really want to. Case in point- my cousin is Stephen. Nice, normal name with no room to pick on, right? Nope, he was called Step Hen for a solid year in elementary school

I have two girls and of course I like both of their names. My oldest is Kayleigh Elizabeth. I really  my younger daughter's name though- Lillian Grace. Love it! If we had another I would be pushing for Madeline Mae. The Mae would be after my grandmother, we were very close. Madeline is negotiable, but not Mae.

"Katherine Elizabeth".....Katherine means "pure little one". It is the most beautiful name I've ever heard..and it's been many years since I've been able to say it without a tear in my eye or a lump in my throat.
I believe it transcends time...not being trendy or in the moment..but traditional with both elegance and grace.

The *most* beautiful? Cathryn Rose. *sigh* :rolleyes1

I love the name Samantha - I would say its the 'most beautiful' though - but I do love Samantha.

As the mommy to a "Katherine", I agree that it is the most beautiful name that I have ever heard. I also love the name Sophia. DH and I found lots of girls names that we both loved, agreeing on a boys name was a different story all together!!

Avery Elizabeth ;)

For Elias I considered Stella, Elora, and Elisa Claire before I knew he was a boy. :)

Elias is one of my very favorite boy names! If I had another he'd either be named Elias or Augustus (also love the nicknames Eli and Gus).

I once had a little girl in my class named Summerlee. I loved that name. She was such a carefree little spirit...her name reminded me of the country time lemonade commercials...where the kids are enjoying their summer vacations.

I would love to name her after my dad, who passed away some years ago. His name was Robert Wayne and her name would be Rayne. I'm scared of backlash and picking though. I don't know.

I think Rayne would be a beautiful middle name. I wouldn't choose it as a first name for several reasons. Mostly because I like very traditional names and I would not like to be called Rayne, myself. That is my biggest test...would I (or dh) want to have this name? However, I wouldn't have a problem knowing another person's child was named Rayne.:confused3 It's totally different when it's your own child. You'll see what I mean, soon enough! There are names I think are adorable that I would NEVER use for my own children. They just aren't a good fit. So Rayne might be perfect for your little girl!:cloud9:

I knew a girl growing up whose middle name was Rayne. Her first name was Blue (Blue Rain). I also had friends named Stormy, several Sunnys, a Cinnamon and one Flower. I was born in the 70's. :hippie:

My girls' names are Molly Hannah and Abigail Rose.

My daughter's name is Celeste. It means heavenly.

She is 18 now. She went through elementary school with no other Celeste in the school. In Junior High, there was another Celeste for one year, then she moved on to High School. My daughter is a Senior this year and has gone all through High School with no other Celeste.

I love the name. It's unique without being too out there. The only complaint she ever had is that is was hard to find pencil, mugs, etc with her name on them.

Her middle name is Nicole. I'm not that crazy about it, but it sounds good with Celeste and look nice written down....

Celeste Nicole

Lots of vowels, both names have an L and both names end in e and it sounds soft.

So have I have I sold you on it yet??

Or Celeste Rayne or Rayne Celeste :)

McKenna Michelle was my girl name and husband wanted Karly "with a K" Michelle. No girl so,

Boys were
Me - Donovan Scott (little dark one)
DH - Cameron Scott (I don't know why:rotfl: )

If he was dark like me, I got to name him and if he was fair like DH, he got to name him.

He ended up being Camden Scott. Fits him perfectly. And, after that delivery, I could have named him cucumber and nobody would have said a thing! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

My DSD name is Shelby Logan and I LOVE IT!!!!

My favorite name of my five nieces is Abby Lauren.

I wanted to name DD Emma Lee,
but we went with Autumn Rain, to see the real beauty in it you have to know my DH considers when the leaves are falling off the trees in Fall to be beautiful and he always called that Autumn Rain.

ETA: if I ever decide to have another baby and it is a girl, I want to name her Spring Thyme

I forgot - I wanted to throw Henry in there somewhere. It was my granddaddy's name and my MIL maiden name - making two families thrilled, but hubby was a no-go on that.

Now, I think Thomas Henry (which I love) would have been just as nice for DS as he loves thomas the tank, and i would still get Henry in there. He is the only boy on both sides! - Can you say spoiled? Just a little though

some really good names are:
birdy
bird
robin
marrion
marryion
mejigle
josh
johna
jonna
jo
jeebs
and jasper (like the tree):cool1:

How do your prounounce Aislinn?

I believe Aisling/Aislinn/Ashlynn are all pronounced the same. This is my DD's name. We spelled it phonetically- Ashlynn.

I also  the name Brielle. If this new baby was a girl, we were pretty set on Kayley or Keely.

Just wanted to add-

My middle name is Aisling and I pronounce it: Ash-Leen. (I was told it was Irish, someone can correct me if I'm wrong)

I hated it when I was little because I wasn't a Jennifer Marie or a Sarah Jane, but now I like it becuase it's different. And shhhhhh don't tell my mom but I'm thinking of naming a future daughter that, haha.

I think there is a real difference between "cutesy" names and "beautiful" names. Most of the names I saw on this thread fell into the category of "cutesy" to me.

I named my daughters very very traditionally--Sarah Elizabeth and Hannah Catherine. It's much more common to do that in the South, I think.

When I think of "beautiful," I think of the name Grace.
