Hi,
First, I hope I am posting this to the right forum.
I am trying to plan our budget for our Jan. 2003 trip to WDW.
I am considering staying at one of the DTD hotels- Hotel Royal Plaza vs. staying at a Disney Value Resort.
There is so much to consider but finances are primary.
I was just wondering:

What is the best rate you received for a WDW value resort?
Thanks,

I also paid $49 per night for All Star Sports. It was an Annual Passholders rate in November 2001.

If you keep your eyes open for discount codes, All Stars often go for $49 during Janurary-Feburary because its the slow season. They are usually called the Winter Getaway Rates. They were $49 this past January

We paid $49 end of last August into September, (I think it was a code) and had a postcard and paid $59 this past January. The best part, is SW had an anniversary sale, and the air was $39 each way from Albany, NY.

I plan to try and use one of the discount codes once them become available for the dates we will be staying. We have never stayed outside of the WDW resort area. I have read many nice reviews for the HRP so that is why I may consider it. Because it is a WDW hotel many of the same perks are available as the WDW Resorts.
I know some have said they have been able to get HRP for as low as $59.00/n but they charge an additional $20/xp in the room over 18, in addtion to a $7/n resort fee. This would up the rate to $116.00/n w/o tax VS. All Stars at $49.00/n plus the additional $10/xp bringing the total to $69/n w/o tax.
I don't think you get charges a resort fee at All Stars???
That would be great if we could get the All Stars for the $49.00 night!!

DMRick - I was considering SW, they have extended a "friends fly free' program through May but the closest airport they depart from for us is Hartford, CT, about a 2 hour drive from us.

Thanks again,

49.00 in Febuary! For June I got it for 69.00 a night plus tax makes it 77.80! This was a Florida Residents special!;)

$49/night at ASSports with a code from mousesavers this February 2002!

$49/night at ASSports at the end July 2001, AP rate.

Love that rate and not even a FL resident rate!

$49 (code rate) late August 2001.

No, no resort charges at All Star (we stayed in Sports). I can't remember if they charged tax on top of that $49 or not..

No parking fee also. Some offsite hotels are charging for parking.

But when you book make sure you state non preferred room, they may try to upsell you to it, it IS an additional charge.

So you are trying to do this with 6 people?

The max you can really fit in an All STars room is four. Its two double (full) beds and or one king bed.

We are going in Sept, 2002 & our rate with tax is just under $49. HIP HIP HOORAY!!! Perks of working for an airline. We are staying in the Toy Story building (preferred view) at All Star Movies. Our youngest LOVES Buzz!

Do keep an eye on the discounted Mod rates. Sometimes the difference overall isn't all that bad.

We received a rate of $49.00/night with DC Discount. This was just this past February.

for all the great information. When do you think the discount codes will start showing up for booking in Jan. 2003?
I am reserving our flight tonight via delta.com. The R/T $178.26 from Boston seems to be a good fare. I keep hearing the fares are going up. I don't want to procrastinate and pay a higher fare!

CindyB-
I have read about upsell, but I am confused about asking for a "non-preferred room". Does this mean the type of view, smoking vs nonsmoking?
We are a party of 4. Our two children, ages 21 and 18 are travelling with us. I thought the standard room is based on "double occupancy" meaning 2 people, and the addtional charge of $10.00 per person over 18 years of age in the room?

WOW!!! With tax, it's UNDER $49? What did you do to get that rate, if you don't mind my asking? I see you are not even FL residents. Do you have a CM in the family? That is certainly the lowest (other than for the campground) I have ever heard of..your actual per night must be about $44 a night. Thave been other "cheap" rates posts...but nothing like that. Congrats!!
