What is the largest protest your town has ever had?

I would say 50 people protesting about the A and E department shutting down at the local hospital

Would have to be the fight over incorporation about ten years ago maybe.

Are you talking about people assembled in public protest or just a hotly contended local issue? If it's the former, there were weekly marches on City Hall for about 6 months running (2021/2022), demanding some of the local Covid restrictions be lifted. Not sure how many people attended at any one time because reports varied based on the source.

Nothing really. There were a handful of BLM gathered at the courthouse back then, but it was just a handful of them.

Any protests would be workers out on strike in front of their employment.

Toss up between bear hunts and gas pipelines.

:rolleyes1 Hopefully the bear hunt protesters didn't mobilize into illegal blockades and other criminal activity that paralyzed the livlihoods of people from coast to coast.

The town I grew up in? The George Floyd riots.
The town I know live in? Probably the school board meeting when they gaslit the entire city about going back to school in 2020.

During BLM there was a protest, and I think 30 people showed up. 90% of the people did not live in my town.

lol, no nothing like that. Just people out with signs. Some didn’t want bears hunted at all. Some didn’t want people from outside the area coming in and shooting where they weren’t supposed to and endangering residents. Others who wanted all the bears shot.

There have only been a couple that I'm aware of, both planned by students at the local high school. One was a rally in solidarity with BLM events happening all over in the wake of the George Floyd case and the other was a part of the student-led walkouts after Parkland. I had to cover one and attended the other as a parent, and honestly, I wish our students would find a different way to express their views. There were armed counter-protestors at both events that made me extremely uneasy; it just felt like an ugly, and potentially dangerous, confrontation waiting to happen. But I keep those thoughts more or less to myself (and my anonymous social media spots like the DIS) because I try very hard not to be the parent that tells my kids to limit themselves to accommodate the bullies of the world.

I live in the State Capital. Protests of 1,000 at the Capitol are common. I don't know what the record is. Thousands protested at the Capitol in 1977 while the Legislature debated reinstating the Death Penalty. Thousands protested in 1978 when Proposition 13 was on the ballot (it is the measure that caps base property taxes at 1% of the sale price of real estate(
The protests with the most property damage were the civil disobedience two years ago. $10 million damage to the Downtown area. Some businesses never reopened.

The Miners’ Strike in 1984 to 1985. So much support in South Wales that the City of Cardiff was regularly brought to a standstill by strikers and their supporters.

April 2015. Protests and riots over the death of a Black suspect while in police custody in Baltimore.

The shooting of Jacob Blake resuling in street riots and burning of buildings and resulted in the whole Kyle Rittenhouse murder/trial .
Still hard to believe something like that happened here.

My dogs, the last time they got into it with a skunk and needed a bath with the cold hose outside, is the largest 'protest' in our rural neck of the woods!
County seat is 15 minutes down the road, but I don't recall any protests of any type. I'm sure there was something, at sometime, over something.

Black Lives Matter march with thousands marching from our downtown to the high school. The police closed down a lot of streets.

I live in a little town. It’s basically like living in Mayberry. I’ve never seen a protest around here.
