Not my kid, but my friend's 17 year old DS (aren't all teenage boys kind of dumb, when it comes to decision-making?). He was spending the night at a friend's house, and the parents were away. The guys were roughousing and wrestling in the living room- friend's son got tackled and his knee landed on a drinking glass.
Shards of broken glass cut him up pretty badly, but he and his friend didn't call any adults or go to the ER until the next morning, when he came home and my friend saw his poor knee. She screamed and almost passed out, then rushed him to the hospital. The Drs couldn't stitch up the 3 gaping lacerations by then, and had to give him IV antibiotics to stave off infection.
His excuse for not going to the ER immediately? "It was 11:30pm- I thought the ER was closed."
I had this student that hated writing.. We were going to do some creative writing about a Pet Polar bear. This student says to be "My mom doesn't allow me to do anything with polar bears.. I'm not allowed to write or draw anything about them."
I told him that I would email his mom to get her permission... I had to do something so he wouldn't see me laughing
