I love the gift shops on the boats (wish they were bigger!) but I have two favorite items that I purchased, a luggage tag w/a brass plate on it that says Disney Cruise Lines, the other is a black bag that folds up so small, but when open you can fill with lots of stuff. Both were not that expensive either!

Since shopping is a "hobby" of mine, just "wondering" what I should be on the look out for on my July 24th Wonder cruise............... :earseek:

my favorite item purchased was my next cruise - but I only put a depsoit on it while I was on board. :Pinkbounc

A pair of new sneakers for my 3 year old. His shoes fell out of the taxi on the wild ride from Coki Beach to the port. He had to wear his swim shoes to dinner. Then I found a pair of buzz light year sneakers in his size in the gift shop for $18 and he was delighted and so was I!

My favorite purchase was a Radko disney ship Christmas ornament.

I bought the propeller clock like the ones they have in the room, then had the Captain sign it!! I look at it every day!

we also purchased the clock. We get many compliments and people ask where they can buy one. It is great to say "oh, that can only be purchased on the DCL!" :earsboy:

The beach blanket I bought that has Mickey and Minnie on it and says Castaway Cay and a great big tote back pack that cinches at the top and says Disney Cruise Line on it. They both go on every vacation with us and they make me smile!

my Vintage Mickey cruise 2003 beach towel is dear to my heart, but my absolute favorite is my zip-up hooded sweatshirt, i wear it ALL the time! it's soft and comfy and unique and i love it!

The cheapest thing I bought ($4) is also my favorite....a DCL captain Mickey antenna topper!! I can always spot my car in the parking lot and it always makes me smile remembering our incredible western cruise in July.

On our cruise a few weeks ago, I bought myself this replica of "The Magic." It now sits proudly on our entertainment center in our living room with the glass etching of Captain Mickey that we received as a gift on our first DCL cruise in 2003.

Verandah Man-
Love that picture! And not to take away from the replica of the ship (we also bought one on our September Western cruise!), but the glass etching of Captain Mickey is way cool! I would LOVE to have one of those! Do they sell those on the ships now? How large is it? Thanks!

I didn't see this for sale on the ship, our Captain Mickey etching is number 205 of 350 made, the size is 4" X 4" it was a gift that was delivered to our cabin after we arrived on the ship.

A year or so ago, someone on this board posted a link to an online store where those clocks can be purchased. They aren't actually Disney merchandise, so they are available elsewhere. The real cost was a fraction of what they sell for on the ship. If anyone remembers that, I would love the link again. I can't remember the name of the manufacturer in order to do a search.

but - you can't have the Captain of the ship sign it!!! That was the best part of the clock, it doesn't keep the greatest time, but when we talk about cruises, we can just look on the shelf and say yup, our first Disney Cruise was August, 2004!!!

Thanks for the information anyway about the etching! Since it is LE I am sure they are no longer available. It is a very nice piece. Also, I noticed you got to sound the ship horn! What luck....and fun!

Poster!

We purchased an Inaugural Year poster the first year the Majic was in operation. It cost us $30, but the last time I saw one for sale, it was valued at over $100.

We just bought a poster of the Disney Magic on our September 2004 cruise. It is sort of deco style picture of the ship and says Est. 1998 on it. Had it framed at Michael's! I just LOVE it! It is one of my favorite shipboard purchases! Another is my navy blue DCL sweatshirt. Felt odd to buy this when it was 90 degrees, but I wear it all the time here in the freezing tundra of Ohio!

Artist Choice and Limited Edition DCL pins - DS and I collect them together...we only collect DCL pins though, since they are only available onboard (and of course ebay)

I think on our next voyage I will buy the ship replica and have the Captain sign it-

I bought a blue cardigan sweater with the DCL logo on it. It is FABULOUS. It fits perfect, has a great weight to it, is understated (wore it to work and didn't feel like I was screaming "DCL") and I can wear it everywhere!
