HI! I'm new to the boards and am just learning how things work here. I am going to be taking my son for his 1st time to Disney in May and was looking into staying at the POP Century. I was wondering what is the difference (besides price) in a standard room and a preferred room? Also, where are the preferred rooms located? Are they closer to the food court, buses, etc.?

The location is the only difference, and well worth it in my opinion! Here is the map..

If you are not preferred you could have a 8-10 min walk to the main building. I just depends how much walking you want to do at the end of the day. For us, we just wanted to get back to our room! Read my trip review linked in my signature.

nothing is 10 minutes from the food court.

the most preferred will save in time is 5 minutes - but generally one a minute or two.

on the other side of the preferred is the standard.

if you get a building further away - just look for short cuts.
