What is the current situation at the AKL?

I know theres construction, but I was looking to book a pool view at AKL for May 17th to 24th. What are the chances I will be seeing or hearing construction if I stay at this resort?

When we were there this past December, all construction (and we heard none) was on the opposite side of the lodge--no where near the Uzima pool. We stayed in a savannah view room on the Zebra trail which was on the same side as the Uzima pool.

Could you see cranes or anything? Was there anything construction related that you noticed?

Has anyone been there within the past few weeks?

The only thing I noticed was the top of a crane when I walked past the main savannah on the way to the hotel lobby. It appeared to be on the side of one of the 'side' savannahs (not the main one).

If I wasn't looking for the cranes I wouldn't have saw them. They were that inconspicuous.

Also, I made a typo in my previous post. I was there from 12/19 - 12/29/07, not September. My bad.

Yes, I'm curious too. We'll be staying in a Savannah View room in April & I don't want it to be spoiled by the construction.

We just returned. The contruction is on the villas which is on the opposite side of the lodge from the pool facing rooms. I didn't stay in a pool view room but stayed across the hall from one. We never heard anything. As we walked down the rooms, we could see the contruction of the villas building though the hallway windows. When we went outside on a stairway to take pictures of the animals, we were looking right at the construction and could barely hear it.

Now, I'm sure I'd rather not have had a room facing the construction but only to avoid having to look at it, not for the noise.
