I want to have a date night with my husband, but I am worried about being too far from my kiddos. What is the closest resort to Fort Wilderness Campgrounds and how long would it take us to get their in our own vehicle or using Disney transporation? Thanks for the help!!:)

The contemporary and wilderness lodge are both close about a ten minute boatride and the same boat goes to both. However the lodge has a bus also that runs between the campground and lodge expect to wait for ten minutes at least. Driving to both is about 10 minutes. Me and dw like California grill at contemporary. We usually walk up and ask to sit in the bar area and get in without problem. However if u want a guaranteed table reserve way in advance. Also artist point at the lodge is nice for a date night away from the kids. If u do California grill make sure to walk out on balcony to see the view of magic kingdom. It's awesome

A boat to the Contemporary and a ride on the monorail will also get you to the Polynesian and Grand Floridian fairly quickly.
A short car ride to the Port Orleans resort and you can also eat at Boatwright's.

Wilderness Lodge is very close to Ft. Wilderness. Depending on how old your kids are they also offer a "kids' club" service within the resort. I am not sure how old your kids are or what plan you already have, but it may be something to look into to give you some more peace of mind.

There is a bus that goes directly to the Wilderness Lodge from the Settlement at Fort Wilderness. I think it is the Yellow bus. Ask a FW bus driver when you are there.

I would vote for a boat ride to the Wilderness Lodge.
It is nice walk up the boardwalk to the Lodge.
Enjoy a lovely dinner and cocktails at Artist Point. If you are lucky maybe you will get a table outside on the deck.
A boat ride is a better way to start a date than a bus ride.
Just my opinion.

I think both resorts Wilderness Lodge and the Contemporary have child care available for a fee. At WL it's called the Cub's Den 5pm-midnight for ages 4-12. They can get a dinner, entertainment, movie etc. At the CR it's called the Mouseketeer Club.

You have to call in advance to make sure there is space available and they charge by the hour but that way you could enjoy your dinner/night with peace of mind.

You didn't mention the age of your kids so I hope they are eligible.
