Forget the hangers. Your room attendent will give you as many extras as you need, and will express his regrets that they are wire hangers, not wooden ones.

I wish I had remembered to ask for more hangers. I wish I had skipped the debarkation class and just watched it on t.v. so I could've been packing while watching instead of ending up missing the Til We Meet Again thing.

Ziploc bags, over the door shoe holder, different color highlighters for Navigators, secret deck 7 area, the back stairs from Topsiders to Deck 8... these are all tips I learned from reading the boards that made things either easier or more enjoyable for us.

....whew!! I just read the whole thread, I'm trying to get all the info I can for our 1st DLC :teeth: !!

Does anyone have any specific tips for those of us who have 'tweens-DS will be 12 and this is his 1st cruise any tips that would help with him would be great!!

Can someone tell me more about the cake of the day through room service? As if we don't get enough to eat ;)

I just found this thread the other day and I was so happy for my DD12. I hope it helps your DS12.

As soon as our bags came, we called guest services, had all of our clothes picked up and pressed, (except for what we needed for 24 hours, or a few shorts that weren't wrinkled). We got everything back early the next evening, and didn't need to go out and wait in line for the iron for the rest of the trip! Well worth the $59.00 it cost pirate: Some people will say they don't bring things that wrinkle, but I used "space bags" too, so I would have room for snorkle gear and souvenirs. :smooth:

Great tip!!! ::yes::

Use the porters!!!!

Its worth the 10 bucks or so to get your luggage and get through customs and on the bus to head to the airport... :cool1:

One more... instead of packing the normal sized toothpaste, shaving cream, deoderants and stuff... buy the sample sized ones and leave them behind when you come home.. they are almost used up anyway..

The tip I read here that I plan to try out on our 1st cruise is taking big gulp sized mugs for the beverage station to cut out the amount of refills we need to run up for. :drinking1

I think this sounds like a great idea. I was wondering about a few of my things that are summer fun wear that have sequins or beads on them but also wrinkle. Or this great large painted white shirt that has glitter-paint on it in bright blue tropical flowers I plan to wear pirate night. Can I trust them with this type of stuff. It's not that they are that fancy, But they wrinkle and can't just be ironed over.

Anyone had anything like that?

Thanks
Melanie
78 days and counting

We did the "spacebag" thing for my dd. I put together all her outfits (outfit, underwear, socks, etc.) each in a ziplock bag. This way, all she had to do was pull a bag out of the draw and everything was there. - By the way, this was what was required of her when she went to Girl Scout Sleepaway camp and it worked so well, I do this for all vacations now.

subscribing....
first cruise is scheduled for June 2006.

I think this has been the greatest thread I have read so far....
I wonder if I can print these pages ?

I just read the entire thread and jotted down some great tips. Thanks everyone! We did the three night last year and are doing the seven night next month. We can't wait! It will be so hard to pack less, but I will give it a try. Thanks again for all of the tips.

Good idea about leaving the toothpaste,ect.. I am sure I will need that valuable space when coming back home. :goodvibes

Can anyone tell me a specific room number for the "secret veranda" on deck 7 aft? I've heard a lot about this and would like to book it but the agents don't seem to know about it.

Thanks,

Mike

Welcome to the DIS joker04_04!!!! :goodvibes

The secret verandah is not a room - it is a public space at the end of the hallway and through a door on Deck 7 - it is viewable by looking at the deck plans here on the DIS of Deck 7 - its a blank space at the aft end of the ship. Anyone can go out there - few know of its existence.

Thanks Castlegazer! I was wondering about that. I read somewhere else that the smokers sometimes take this over and it's not as enjoyable for those of us wanting to stay away from the smoke??? Any inputs for this?

Also, I've been on a couple of cruises where if you were on the fore or aft ends the motion was much more noticable and sea sickness was more likely...so the suggestion was a room in the middle of the boat...Is this a problem on the Disney or is it too big to have much motion on the ends?

Thanks!

Mike
