What is the best character breakfast for a 6yr old boy?

I didn't see anyone ask this but.....what are his favorite characters? There are so many to choose from!

So my son was kinda unfamiliar with most for the Disney personalities that were available... so I had to hype him up. I pushed House of mouse cartoons and such. By the time we got there he was so excited to meet the fab 5 and Chip and Dale. My sons favorite all time meet and greet was at Christmas Universal brakefast with the Grinch

I’ve got three boys, all still under age 9. O’Hana (which isn’t open now and a big bummer) was always a hit on MK day because we got to ride the monorail, and could usually see the castle from our table. Coffee is the best of the lot there. Tusker House is great for AK day and for studios, Topolinos or Hollywood and Vine (which is Dis Jr at blast). The restaurant they like the most is TRex, which is divisive for adults. But they sure did love eating with the dinosaurs (it would be scary if they didn’t love them).

I have a 9 and 6. We are going in June. I settled on Hollywood and Vine and Garden Grill (lunch). Topolinos was my runner up if I didn't get HV. I'm almost glad I had limited options because my top choice would have been Trattoria al Forno and I also had Ohana on my list. (oh, we are going to Trex too! I bet that'll be their favorite.)

Well, good luck on your next year trip! Praying things will be “back to normal” by then. My son loved Tusker House. He also loved Chef Mickey’s so much it became a trip staple. And lastly, as a family we loved Garden Grill.

Glad I found this thread, I've been looking into Character Dining options all morning. I also have boys and was feeling the dining experiences are a little princess heavy...

Tusker as well as Hollywood and Vine are both on my wish list. Does anyone have thoughts/experiences with the BOG or Dining at Cinderella's castle? Is it a must do with small boys ages 4 & 6?

If I had girls, I think it would be on my wishlist, but I am unsure if the experience carries much weight with little boys who aren't princess enthusiasts?

Any insights are appreciataed!
Thnx

I am not sure if it is back yet or not, but the breakfast at Hollywood and Vine was super fun - we were the first reservation of the day so they announced us coming in, gave us a signature card, - my daughter was a big Doc McStuffins fan at the time so she was thrilled!

I would continue to check the official Disney website since many things have changed due to covid. Even after places reopen, I expect there will be some modifications to how buffet restaurants operate and/or the nature of the interaction with Disney characters. How it was before covid may not be how it works going forward, so to avoid being disappointed, best to check the info they continue to update on the Disney website.

Right now I would say Toppolinos Terrace. However if Trattoria al Forno allows characters again do it! Flynn was awesome to see and we also got a surprise visit from Merida! We left before Prince Eric got there but we saw Flynn, Rapunzel, Merida and Ariel. It is really good food and the mix of characters made it very awesome for everyone! But right now I would say Toppolinos.

How many character meals do most families go to during a trip to Disney?
We’ve gone twice with our guy, once age two and once age 4. We have not done a character meal with him yet - we will likely do one on the next trip when he is age 6, but leave it at one.

I wouldn't do Cinderella castle and BOG only has the beast for dinner as far as I know. I have read great reviews of Garden Grill. Cape may is not open. Tusker house recently reopened and has good reviews. We had fun at trattoria AL forno which js prince and princesses. Great character interaction. It is fun to do a character meal on a non park day as something to look forward to. If cape may reopens that was excellent and quieter than what I have read about chef Mickey.

My son really enjoyed the characters at both Crystal Palace and Tusker House when he was 6. See pics, very happy kid. We planned late (booked 4 months out back in 2015 when ADRs started at 180 days) so didn't have many choices. I was just happy to have somewhere to eat, wasn't looking for character experiences necessarily, but found the characters to be a real bonus to help keep the kids interested and engaged while DH and I finished eating. I love that the Tusker characters wore safari gear!

My son, when he was 6 (again), really liked the castle and the scenes and the food at BOG. The castle has incredible detailing. That didn't feel like "princess" dining IMO. But that was back when it was QS for lunch so you didn't have to shell out as much to experience it... Also there is a room that could be scary for a 6 year old there, depending on his temperament - it can get dark in there and mimics stormy weather (thunder).

Ohana was always my kids favorite and we all loved the food there!!! The juice and the bread is worth it alone!!! But my boys liked stitch and that made it more appealing to them. I do wish they had a toy story or Star Wars character breakfast. I know my grown kids would even pay to do those!!!! Garden grill was good when the kids were little too. You really can’t go wrong, just pick one with characters your DS likes and what is convenient to the park you are in that day

We did 2 the last time we were there. Ohana to meet Stitch and Garden Grill breakfast because I had fond memories of their dinner when I was in college. We had picked those because we were with a 20 month old and it was served family style.

After reading all of the reviews and feedback, I put together a list of the Character meals the boys might be interested in and matched them up with our park days.

(There we’re still a few I couldn’t squeeze in but maybe in a another 5 years when we can return 🤷🏽‍♀️)

Think I may be over doing it...

I cannot caution strongly enough that it's important to test out your child's reaction to "live" characters before investing in a character meal. Many children react to live characters with extreme fear, and if that is the case a character meal will NOT be a good experience. (Trust me, I learned this the hard way.)

Be sure to take your child to some kind of local event with costumed/furry characters and try him out on the interactions before going to WDW, or if that isn't possible, book a refundable character meal toward the end of your trip the first time, so that you have a few days to gauge reaction to characters in the parks first. An expensive character meal with a screaming child who dives under the table and refuses to come out to eat is no one's idea of fun.
