Hey, I still like it. It's a classic. :thumbsup2

There's something about The Stand that just really grabs you and pulls you in. Stephen King demonstrated amazing character development in this book. To this day, I feel like some of the characters were "old friends." You just get to know them and understand them that well.

I didn't care for the ending - it's the story that got me. It's terrifying, it makes me cry, it made me think and even had a few small laughs thrown in. It's LONG, for sure, but I relished every page.

I don't know if I have an absolute favorite but a few that I really enjoyed and would read over and over....

The Stand
Duma Key - Stephen King - loved this one !!!

Clan of the Cavebear triology

The Dragonbone Chair series - Tad Williams - LOVE LOVE THESE !!!

The Lord of the Rings series

Watchers, Strangers, and Lightning by Dean Koontz

Harry Potter series - very entertaining...especially waiting for the final book

You totally should! As much as I love the movie, I think the book is soooo much better! Usually I hate when my favorite books are made into movies- but they did a good job with Fried Green Tomatoes. :)

It's on my list now! Thanks! :)

"The Pull Of The Moon" by Elizabeth Berg..

It's about a 50-ish woman - who is going through the "empy nest" syndrome - feeling lost and confused - and leaves her home and her husband to travel around the country for a bit in hopes of "finding herself" - who she "is" now - what her "purpose" is.. It's supposed to be fiction, but in reading that book you would swear that it has to be non-fiction.. There is no way that someone could dream up those thoughts and feelings "in their head" to write a novel like that.. It's too real..

It's an amazing book - and even though my DH passed away in 2005 - I read that book over and over again (at least once a year).. For anyone who has ever suffered from the "empty nest syndrome", this book is a "must".. It captures every thought - every emotion - right down to the letter..:thumbsup2

When I was in 9th grade, my English class read the Iliad and the Odyssey by Homer. We read a lot of it out loud and discussed. I LOVED those books. My English teacher was amazing; she could make a book come alive!!!

In my 20's, my favorites were the Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. I fell into those fantasies so deeply.

Lately, my favorite is "The Secret Life of Bees." The descriptive passages allowed me to smell and taste what was being described. I thought that pretty cool.

hands down...The Giver:thumbsup2

This is my son's favorite book. His teacher gave it to him in the 3rd grade because he was complaining that her other choices were too juvenile. She asked that I read it at the same time so he could discuss it along the way. When we finished, he west back and read it again. He read it last year in 7th grade and he plans to read it againg someday. I liked it too.

I just finished The Sex Lives of Cannibals and it was really great. I highly recommend it.
