What is Sangria?

I'll have to try that. Sounds Yummy.
What other drinks do they have. I rarely drink but since I don't have to drive I'll have one.

It is delicious!:cloud9: It is a sweet light red wine, flavored with assorted fruit, which is in the wine.

different people make it different ways. Some of the traditional sangrias also have a touch of hard alcohol in them too. Many are simply red or white wine with fruit juice and chunks of fruit in it. The type of fruit often depends on the color of the wine. It is one of my favorites. I have hear people say disney blends theirs (I cannot say yes or no to this as I haven't had one at disney) but I would assume it would still taste yummy. Just a fair warning, if you don't drink much these can sneak up on you if you aren't used to them because they taste like juice.

Slightly off topic...but I love Sangria and the best I ever had was in NYC in a small place called Vintage @ E 114th and Irving Plaza. Mmmmm apples, oranges, cinnamon....YUM! Ok...sorry 'bout that...this thread just got me reminiscing.

But yes, HDDR's Sangria is nice.

If you're a sangria lover and are in the Disney area, come over to Celebration and try the white sangria at the Columbia restaurant. They make it right at your table. Delicious!

The sangria at the new Via Napoli at Epcot is great too. I suspect it might have a little hard stuff in it.

oh, good to hear! Will give it a go in September.

this was basically a pitcher of red wine, full of fruit...orange slices, lemons, limes and a LOT of maraschino cherries. Like a jar of them. It was wonderful.

We make Sangria at home; ours definitely has other alcohol in it. It's a summer favorite.

The BEST sangria I have ever had--and I've had some very good ones--is at The Iberia in Newark, New Jersey. They put brandy and triple sec in it, as well as red or white wine or champagne and fruit juices. A close second--and I mention it in case anyone reading this thread finds themselves in the NJ Meadowlands--would be at Segovia Restaurant in Moonachie, NJ.

That said, DH found all of WDW's versions of sangria to be enjoyable last summer. :)

I shared a pitcher of sangria with two others in a small restaurant in Spain, the sort that lures you in off the cobblestone streets in Barcelona. . . I had one glass. When my two companions woke up the next day and asked me what happened, I had to remind them that the Spanish told us their "real" (not American!) style Sangria was made ENTIRELY of red wine, vodka, vermouth and brandy. Talk about jungle juice!

My homemade sangria is red wine and Rum with fruit that macerates in it for a few days

we use wine, brandy, and grand marnier in our sangria and add oranges, apples, and lemons and a little mineral water for some fizz. Fabulous. :thumbsup2

Woohoo! A Sangria topic!

I've been on the fence about getting the Sangria at HDD in a few weeks... Do y'all think they'll let me try a glass? Can I switch to beer, or am I committed?

You can switch beverages at HDDR. The only thing to keep in mind is that your server might bring you a refill without asking (which I love, but I stick to Sangria:thumbsup2) -- so don't be shy about speaking up if you want beer instead after the first round of Sangria.

Sounds like the version I make except I usually add some type of stone fruit like peaches or apricots. I also either include some simple syrup or use 7-up for the fizz to sweeten it up a bit. After your done with the drink add the fruit to vanilla ice cream......

The ones that we have had at the lounges in Disney are good but they are made using a sangria syrup mix added to wine without the addition of brandy. If by blended you mean with ice like a frozen margarita I have not seen this at WDW.
