What Is One Thing You Would Change About DCL?

There are cast member rates and FL resident rates for every cruise this summer on the Wish. I don’t think it is as popular as you think it is. My opinion is that there are too many short cruises for the target market.
I agree and this Jan & Feb it will be even worse. Wish, Fantasy, Destiny, and Dream are doing 5-3 night sailings out of FL... that is a LOT of staterooms to fill. I think the Dream is really going to have a hard time filling. No special sailings like the Fantasy with Pixar and I am not sure many guests are willing to go to Ft. Lauderdale for 3-4 nights on the Dream.

This is why I don’t understand why Disney doesn’t throw in some longer cruises in off peak season. They have so many 3-5 night cruises and that’s just not sustainable forever. Why not throw in a 10 night in January one year to see how it sells.

A 10 night in January would be a dream come true! Bet it would sell out with just people who love sailing long cruises on the fantasy and were disappointed with the Treasure.

I totally agree. Bring back more of the southern Caribbean and other longer cruises. You could even do a round-trip Panama Canal.

Dream needs to do longer cruises. Whatever the Treasure isn't doing, the Dream should do so they don't overlap too much.

I agree completely. IMO the Dream due to being in Ft Lauderdale, needs 7 nights to fill consistently without needing discounts. Maybe it could do Western\Eastern opposite the Treasure but with a stop at Lookout instead of Castaway to mix it up?

Or go to San Juan/St Maarten. The fantasy used to do these ports occasionally. Some variety would be lovely.

I am intrigued by the fact the Magic and the Wonder are both doing 7 night Alaskan sailings next season... If that proves successful I wouldn't be shocked to see them try something like Sunday to Sunday 7 nights out of FLL on top of the Treasure itineraries...

I agree with those who think they may be overextending... Where that goes I'm not sure... but continuing to add capacity to me seems like a bad idea... I'd rather see that money going into parks, as I prefer the original 4 ships...

Yeah that's kind of what I was thinking. Some would do Lookout and some would do Castaway depending on where those dates fall.

The Dream is my favorite class so I would love for them to do this.

Dream does it in the spring and fall and then in the Winter when she goes to Europe, have the Magic or Wonder do it.

The other theory is that the Magic and Wonder both become West coast ships as there's already plenty of ships in the Caribbean/Florida market. They would then slowly be phased out due to their age.

But I like the first theory much better!

Pre-pandemic, Cabanas did a sit down dinner, (usually every night but the first and last of a cruise) with servers (in training) on some nights and a dinner buffet on other nights.
They never had a dedicated dinner buffet option. Cabanas was a served sit down meal. They did have a buffet after the pirate show with a limited amount of food and desserts but not at dinner time...it was late night about 11:00. They also used to have a fabulous dessert buffet on the classic ships on a Thursday night in either Lumiere's or Tritons at 10:00 or 11:00 pm. It was stunning.

I like pretty much all the changes listed in the previous pages but what I would like the most, would be to have the Dream and Fantasy do 7 nights or longer cruises out of the US. We recently booked a Dream cruise out of FLL in July and it is only 5 nights. We have teachers in the family that can't get away during the school year so having a 7 night Dream cruise during the summer would be great....5 nights is just not long enough, especially when you have to include flights out of NYC. 5 nights just seems so short onboard.

Also, bring back DCL to NYC....don't even care which ship. I know the last 2 years is due to drydock but let's hope for late 2026.....and....if they do bring a ship back to NYC please, please, please have the 7 or 8 night itinerary that included a stop in Port Canaveral (with tix and buses to WDW for the day) and a stop at either Lookout or Castaway! Loved that itinerary out of NYC.

Do away with midnight madness....I am Pearl so it doesn't apply to me anymore in getting an early PAT but we are traveling with 5 cabins this summer in all different CC statuses and I feel I have to be up at midnight with all the different people's CC status to make sure we can get PAT's as close in time as possible (so that means 3 nights at midnight)....I feel responsible since I organized the cruise LoL

I’m always curious- what time do you think would be best for this? For many reasons 6 AM or 7 AM is actually worse for many people, especially people on the West Coast. As a parent, I always hated that early morning time start for WDW dining reservations, and fast passes because it was always when I was juggling kids and getting them ready for school. I don’t think there really is a perfect time. And no matter what time you set it as people are going to still want those early port arrival times and the competition is still going to be tough.

I’ve also very rarely seen open boarding happen more than 90 mins after boarding starts and I kind of wonder if the stress is worth the potential extra 90 minutes on the ship for a large group, but that’s just me 🤷‍♀️. I like getting more time on the ship too, but at a certain point that cost benefit analysis has to be weighed.

I've only ever sailed on DCL and NCL, but I think Norwegian also had a midnight check in. We were in the Haven, so I don't think our arrival time mattered that much (or if it did, the Manhattan cruise port did not enforce it).

Personally I don't mind the midnight time, but I prefer when it falls on a worknight as people are far less motivated (on the east coast) to stay up late when they have to be up in 5 hours.

Royal also has a midnight check in. As far as I know, it’s pretty standard across the board. I think DCL cruisers just care way more about getting an early PAT. Other cruise lines also have ways to basically buy an early arrival besides using their transportation. Things like faster to the fun or the key.
