What is on your summer goals list? Did you do any of it yet?

My summer goals:
Lots of pool time (check)
Keep kids off devices as much as possible (semi check)
Explore new parts of our area (not yet)
Vacation (in august)
Spend lots of time in DC since we’re semi close (did 3 smithsonian museums and took older kids to Holocaust museum)
RELAX (lol with 5 kids that’s not gonna happen anytime soon but I can dream)

Our outdoor screened in room was rotting away, and we made a goal to tear it down. It had critters of all kinds burrowing underneath and it was unsafe to be inside of it.

The above was yesterday. Today it's just a pile of rubble waiting for the dumpster. We are happy.

I also made it a goal to ignore all the Summer goodies to eat and stick to my healthy eating plan-so far so good. I give myself a little sticker on a board for every ten pounds lost. Yesterday I got my 40 pounds lost sticker.

Next goal: clean out the garage and my late uncle's old workroom in the basement. After that, paint the basement and living room.

pool time......grand kids are over a lot for that
Alaska cruise.....we leave Aug. 31
Summer birthday celebrations.....DD's (6-29), done, DGD's (7-20) and DS's (8-4)
Get our children added to our financial accounts and DVC. Will updated. Working on all of those (not as much fun as the other things)

Complete fish extender gifts. almost there

I just booked our 30th wedding anniversary where we spent our Honeymoon!

We kept going around and around but I just did not want to go go to Europe 20K worth (arthritis means 1st class means 8K and uncertainty means aggita) and the nostalgia of where we started kept pulling at my heartstrings ESPECIALLY once I dug out the photo album and found our old room key:love: Big goal completed!

That looks like it has amazing potential for a wonderful yard hangout! It's tough to clean out old forgotten spaces but it is incredibly uplifting once it is done. Every time I get rid of stuff I feel a giant weight released so much bigger than the comfort I think I feel from having the stuff, nice goal.
Congratulations on the 40! I am avoiding junk too, it seems a bit easier with no holiday baking.

So amazing to have a pool with grandkids, especially with the birthdays you can see them a lot but not have to hands on entertain all day, nice.
I heard great things about that cruise, hope it is what you want it to be.
Good to add your kids to everything before there is an event, it probably creates valuable peace of mind.

Good for you starting your Masters and congrats on the new job!
Solo vacay, zoo and DIsney exhibit all sound delightful, good plans.
Novel and Audio Voice over sound like great things to do, enjoy.

Had to look up 2L but yay you finishing your second year and glad you were able to finish in spite of illness, good luck with your paper!
August cruise and Fish Extender are related I think so yay that too!

This is my second full summer of retirement. What I learned last year, you don't do anything during the summer. Everything is at peak rates. There are long waits for service people. So we're enjoying our house, and what so far has been a mild summer, only a few days of 100+ degrees and waiting for everyone else to get back to work and school so we can start doing stuff.

I plan to explore some more camping opportunities north of me. I haven't spent any time at all camping to the north so I'm looking forward to seeing what's out there. Exploring is fun.

That's what I was guessing. DH is retiring on Thursday--possibly forever, but at least till next year. We are staying home and puttering around the house. There is a lot to do maintenance-wise, for sure! This fall, I hope we make a road trip somewhere.

Two grandsons graduating from high school - done
The grandsons’ combined graduation open house here at our farm - done
Camping with family and friends at our place up north - ongoing until October
My 5-night birthday trip to Camp Dearborn - upcoming on August 6
Our 12-night trip to Duluth, Minnesota - upcoming on August 26

Our one goal these last 2 years- launch our youngest son onto his next steps-

Driving home now from moving him and his cat 11 hours across country. We've all been in limbo as he sorted out his next steps in life. Fingers crossed this is the successful start of his career path.

He has been our hardest to launch.

Now, on to deep cleaning his room.

Successful trip to Greece, done.

Start working on travel plans for next summer, done.

Using our neighborhood pool some, not done.

Painting younger child's bedroom, not done.

Getting ordained, not done, but I might knock this one out in the next week or two.

Would like to take a weekend trip to a waterpark a few hours away, but if that happens it probably won't be until August.

Work on homeschool lesson plans for Social Studies / ELA for the coming year, off to a good start but need to keep up the momentum.

Working on some life skills with the kids like having them do a little more cooking, making a bit of progress, but need to spend some more time on this.

Organizing/thinning down closets (done if I ever drop off the bag full of stuff at goodwill)

Vacation (next week)

Outdoor movie night (done, but want to do again)

We don't have a to-do list in the traditional sense this summer. We have a major family event happening later this month and honestly summer for us is split into "before & after" this event!
We are going to Lake Tahoe for 4 nights in late August for a work thing, looking forward to checking out the area during our free time.

Duluth for 12 days? LUCKY! Duluth is in my top 5 places I have been...nothing like it! We had planned on going this last weekend, but ended up knocking one of MY summer-goals off the list and visiting a new state - went to the UP :)

OP -

1) new state - since I did not get to WY when we were in the Black Hills last month, I "forced" DH to go to the UP last Friday. It is only 2 hours from our cabin. Went to a beach there, on Superior, then to Ironwood for some cookies :) Quick and easy foray over the border, but it's done!

2) go back to school. I have applied/been accepted. Now my anxiety about it all (time management, money, etc.) is kicking in and I am dragging my feet...

3) get youngest DS out of the house more. That hasn't happened yet. He has a job interview on Wednesday, however, so that will hopefully help...

Mine have been more household goals (from my list of 23 Hard Things in 2023). Working through!

Declutter basement - halfway through
Order/install new range hood - arriving tomorrow. Need to schedule technician
Repair/paint upstairs ceiling/walls
Wash windows
Declutter canned goods pantry and spices
Take old computers to Best Buy for recycling
Videos - convert home videos to DVD. A bit more challenging, because we don't have a VCR to see what's on the tapes.
Vacation - UP of Michigan (August 20-September 4)

Congrats on 2 years retired! My husband has been retired for 2 years to, and seems to have adjusted nicely, LOL.
We live in a tourist area, so our small town is packed and every store/attraction is packed.
So we do what you do, We stay around home until the summer rush is over. There is a lot to do in our yard and house to keep us busy.
