What is Mission Space?

I rode it when if first opened before they had 2 different intensities. It was also before I knew I had high blood pressure. It was not a good day. I got off the ride and I had to stagger outside and sit for quite a while. It took more than half of the day before I felt "right" again. It really messed with me. I can tolerate tea cups, the other rides I'm fine one, but Space is just bad news.

We rode MS in December, I have a slight problem with both blood pressure and claustrophobia but decided to ride. After a bit of thought we decided to ride the higher intensity because I thought if I felt bad at least it was on the better mission option - I LOVED IT!

Yes it's a bit crammed and yes you really do feel some centrifugal forces (surprisingly effective) but I absolutely loved it and could happily of gone on it again, and will do the next time we're in EPCOT.

I completely understand people being hesitant though as the whole build up to it while in line is WARNING WARNING WARNING - I say try it - like me, you might just love it and want more BUT it really isn't as intense as I'd been led to believe.

That said, these experiences are meant to be fun, so if you feel overly anxious, maybe pass on it.

Thanks for the replies. I'm definitely skipping Mission Space (both colors).

Am even thinking that it's not worth it for the rest of my family. DS and DH have sensitive stomachs and one ride, is not worth risking feeling awful for the rest of the day. There are enough other things to keep us busy.

I enjoy the ride a lot, my wife hates it.
If you have issues with motion sickness or enclosed spaces, I would not ride it.

Or g-forces.

My wife doesn't get motion sick and isn't claustrophic but has had some facial surgery and can't do the g-forces. She will do the weenie side on occasion (I never remember which color is which).

This is helpful. Thanks. I also need to avoid g-forces...so a good to know.

I am also mildly claustrophobic and you just reminded me of my 2015 MS Green experience which is making me question if I really want to do Orange with my girls this Summer because I know they would love it and I would feel uncomfortable with them going on their own.
What, exactly, concerns you about them for it on their own? If you don't want them waiting in line or exiting without you, you can absolutely stay with them in line and use the chicken exit to wait for them.

If it's them being in the vehicle with strangers, I personally don't consider that dangerous, but I wouldn't dream of indicating it's wrong to feel that way. But you can absolutely ask the loaded if they can have their own pod.

I know people have said to just look straight ahead, but I find I can move my eyes without moving my head inside the pod. Anywhere, really, just like most people :).
EDIT: Oh, and make sure you push that button when it lights up. It is very important.
Still? Somebody upthread mentioned that if you don't push your button, the vehicle crashes. It's how I discovered I can glance sideways :). My first ride, way back when it was all just the intense level, not everybody in my crew it was interactive. I think I had to control three operations.

Subsequent rides, the vehicle hasn't always been fully staffed. Again wanting to avoid a crash, I reacted to multiple instructions.

Green for good-to-go, orange for oh-oh-oh-my-goodness!

I'm prone to motion sickness but I find that if you establish a focal point and don't let your eyes wander all over then you will be fine. Personally I never noticed G-forces - just more visual spin effect, which the focal point minimizes, and actually makes the ride kinda meh but I don't want to ruin my day.

Oh, I forgot to mention. I tried Green once. I was not impressed. Boring. And this was in my 50s/60s.

Did you ride the Green (left) side? The Orange side has massive g-forces and a spinning feeling because...it's a centrifuge that spins and creates g-forces! I can't imagine that you didn't feel anything. Yes, the ride is indeed a bit meh when it doesn't spin!

I always feel like Mission: Space gets a bad rap. I really think it's a very cool attraction, but I can see where people have trouble. Don't close your eyes (blinking is okay) and don't turn your head to the side - you should be fine. Clausterphobia I can't speak to, but it isn't a very long time being enclosed. I would suggest giving it a try. The moment you reach weightlessness is really very, very cool!

I wish I could go on it bc I love a space themed ride. But once I got inside the line and they started the whole safety bit about spinning I left. My cousin and her fiance went on and after they came off they were basically ruined for the night. So I feel like there's no real way to know how you'll react to it. I personally am very sensitive to spinning so I stay very far away from this one!

I don't do spinners anymore either - you won't catch me on Teacups... but MS isn't really like that - you can't see that you are spinning and therefore don't get that sensation - you just feel the Gs pulling you into the seat (like takeoff). Eyes forward and you wouldn't have any idea that you are spinning (unless you had read about it somewhere).

Although I clearly felt the G Forces on Orange I never once felt that I was spinning - it was very cleverly done.

I think for me it’s a combination of knowing already that it’s spinning so that just automatically makes me anxious lol. As well as being sensitive to screen based simulators. Though I have had great luck with seabands! I did FOP with no issues, and I usually get a little wonky on star tours.

Ride on both sides multiple times - just noticed the nausea factor is a bit more evident on one side than the other. I always think G-Forces means it pushes you into your seat and I've never experienced that so maybe I don't know what a g-force is.

Really? That's strange. It definitely pushed you back. I usually feel like the air is pushed out of my chest during takeoff. I don't mind it at all but I definitely feel it.

Geez, I'm gonna ride that again and pay attention this time.
