I saw a post about the ride Malestrom. We just returned and I've never heard of this. I was dumbfounded when I heard it because I didn't think we missed much of anything. I looked on my park map but couldn't figure out what it was.

Thanks!

World Showcase- Norway- Boat ride if I remember correctly.

Yes, if you are visiting the Norway section, face the front of the main building and you will periodically see the back of a boat pop out over the edge of a ledge. This is the ride Maelstrom.

Yes, Maelstrom is a great ride! We never miss it! We like going "BACK! BACK! Disappear! Disappear!

:earsboy: :earsgirl: :bounce:

Maelstrom is a boat ride that travels back in time in Norway. There are trolls, you travel backwards for a while, there is a drop and then after it is over, you end up in a theatre with a short film about Norway. Some people skip the film, but if you have never seen it, it isn't too long.

It is a ride where you can get fastpass, but if you arrive early after WS opens it doesn't seem too busy. As someone said it is at the back of Norway, inside a building, and not an easy "in your face" doorway.

We love this ride! Just got back took the kids (age 9, 8 and 5) and as soon as we got off the boat they said 'can we do it again?' And we did! :p Cute ride and a great way to cool off, we got there around 1:00 and walked right on both times. We did skip the movie though.

Would Maelstrom be ok for a 2-yo? I've having a hard time deciding what he can and can't do.

I'd tend toward no. It is in the dark, there are "scary" trolls that chase you. I think it is more intense than Pirates at MK.

My 2-year old liked it! But he also liked Haunted Mansion (his 5-year old brother was terrified of HM!). Depends on the child, I guess!

I agree with Focusdude. It really depends on the child. My dtr is 2 and she loved it, but she doesn't scare easily.

I think this is a great ride. I love the drop and the cool breeze and mist of water you get as you go through the "storm".
