What is it? Are there food items that you have no idea what they are? Ask here.

I know there are many items on the other thread that I have no idea what that food is. Thought maybe some would like to ask about the ones they don't know and others could tell us about the food specialities they know.

I have one for you.

It's white and pink and smells kinda bad in the ziploc baggie in my fridge. There's something green in there, too. :crazy2: What is it?

Head Cheese and Potted Meat....just by the sound of them I wouldn't eat them!!

Kind off topic but why is Cream of Tartar a powder not liquid?
I have always wondered the same thing.
Also what exactly is couscous?

couscous is similar to pasta, but looks like small grains of rice. it's used in North African and Middle Eastern cooking.

Couscous is related to something called tabouli. Maybe they are "related" because I can't stand either of them!

love couscous -- have some in my fridge (and my fridge is bare)

now what is filafel? fillafel? fillaful? have no idea how to spell it, either, so help me out there

Filafel is mashed up chick peas, sometimes mixed with other veggies and then deep fried in a little patty. Served as a sandwich in pita or alone, usually with tahini sauce. Sometimes I like them and sometimes not, making a good one is an art form and it is hard to find really good ones, kind of like finding a great matza ball.

Chicken fried steak is some kind of beef, usually round steak, heavily tenderized and then pan fried with a thick breading kind of the way fried chicken is made. At least that's what it is in Texas. I can't stand the stuff myself.

I saw this one on another thread. Someone mentioned having fluff for dessert today. What is fluff?

...what exactly is okra?

Fluff...is that like Marshamllow fluff? A marshmallow-type product sold in a plastic tub.

I don't know anyone who actually eats eggs over easy. It's when you fry an egg but you don't flip it. You only cook one side.

Fluff is what Southerners call marshmallow cream.

What do the US ways of doing eggs mean, e.g. "Eggs over easy"?

I order my eggs scrambled hard. Meaning the yolk and white are mixed together, then I want them cooked really well. I dont like when my eggs are soft and runny. Scrambled Eggs
DH orders his sunny side up. The egg is fried but only cooked on one side Fried Eggs
