Weather wise it will be literally night and day. Prepare for it to be hotter than heck. Crowds will likely be a bit higher than early March...mainly due to free dining offers, etc.

It will be HOT as heck!! And don't be surprised if it randomly decides to pour every day for an hour or so!

when it rains, stand out in the rain. lol. the only time you will feel cool. cuz when it stops, the humidity will go up ten fold. but i would go in august with no question:)

Oh and one other difference: hurricane season will be peaking. Just pay attention, but don't get worked up over it.

Hot, hot and hot. Went in August last year and I certainly would do it again. (That is, if there was absolutely no way I could go in any of the other 11 months)

my wife and I honeymooned in early August a few years back and it was incredibly hot. Being from Michigan our blood is not made for the heat.

Everyone is right...REALLY HOT!

We went in Aug '08. It was really hot, but we survived, had the time of our lives, and are headed back in 43 days! (yes, that puts us right back into Aug)

It is totally doable! Just be smart about things. Stay hydrated, take short cuts through air conditioned shops, etc. Many of the queues also have AC, so you can cool of while on the attractions. We often took mid day breaks back to the resort for a swim.

Keep an open mind and have a blast!!

Just in case it hasn't been said... it's HOT. We went last 23-27, and it was ~95 every day. Luckily, it was at least a little overcast for most of it, so the sun wasn't on our heads, too.

We've found on our last two trips (June '06 and August) that AK doesn't have a lot of places to cool off, so be wary. Also, it will rain, on occasion. We were a little surpised - on our AK day, we were taking a bus back to WL and it started to rain. We'd planned on swimming that night, but the rain actually kept up until bedtime. The rest of the time, the rain lasted maybe a half hour.

hot hot hot humid hot hot. And when it rains.. it pours then its humid and muggy multiplied times 100!

:rotfl: And this is the reason we are going in August...Our schedule won't allow us to go (and be there during value season) any other time for the next year! I would rather go during the heat than not go at all!!:cool2:

Hot like the surface of the sun....

I've visited WDW in August twice: 1981 (Labor Day weekend--might have been beginning of Sept.) and 2003. It was a tad more bearable in 1981 (even if it rained at 3:30 p.m. every day)--but I was 22 years younger! *LOL*

Even in 2003, the heat wasn't bad. I'm accustomed to 105 degrees to 115 degrees in the summer. But the humidity was a killer! We have fairly high humidity July through mid-September to go along with our high temperatures, but nothing compared to WDW!

As other posters have noted, wear sunscreen, keep everyone in your family hydrated, and try to take it easy during the hottest part of the day. That doesn't have to mean returning to your resort, just try to do as much as possible in air conditioned venues.

Regarding hydration, don't wait to feel thirsty before drinking water (minimize alcohol and soft drinks--they tend to dehydrate the body)--just drink periodically throughout the day. Dehydration is no fun--been there, done that!

I agree that it's hot in August, but the temperature averages in Orlando are, for June 90, July 92 and August 92. The humidity averages June 57%, July 58% and August 60%. I know these are just averages, but I've been in May, June, July, August and September, and they're all pretty hot to me. We always take a mister (love my MistyMate), drink lots of water, go early for rope drop and/or AM EMH, take a break for a swim around 2PM, shower and head out to dinner and then a park in the evening. Gotta love that Florida heat and humidity!!!;)

We were there this past August. Duh, yes it was hot. Orlando in August who would have gussed. We were prepared for the sudden down pours and only had one our first day. Got a snack and by the time we were done so were the showers. We carried the ponchos every where we went put them in zip loc bags to keep them compact. If we got hot we just got on a ride. The way Disney is set up you are not out in the sun for hours at a time. Even the ouside lines are pretty comfortable. My husband is a teacher so we always go on vacation in the summer. The heat doesn't really bother us, it can get pretty hot and humid in NJ.

 So i guess it might get hot:scared1: And as the PP said we are from MI and i can handle the pool on a 70ish day but im no good in the heat! Is there any hope? Oh ya its 4 adults going so we dont have to stay in the park but i really want to..

And no matter how hard you try, your hair will not cooperate! :rotfl:

Sometimes we'd go in the pool during the day and then head to the parks later in the afternoon when it had cooled down a teensy bit.
