What is it about CBR?

I've heard amazing things about CBR... just look at the replies! Can't wait to be there in 51 days!

Me either!!! I'm so excited, and reading all the nice things people say about it is just making the anticipation that much more fun

We first stayed at CBR not long after it opened. After staying at Poly a couple of times and CR I was a little worried. I wasn't sure about using a bus to get around and staying at a "cheaper" resort but I was very happy with it. Since then the other moderates and values were built and we have stayed at them all. Each one puts you in a different frame of mind with their themes. CBR might have been the first moderate but it still holds up well. So well that I won't say any one resort is my favorite. If you like the Caribbean island feel (although I personally have never been to a real one) this is a great resort.

Thank you all for the quick replies. You have definitely calmed my worries, and I feel much better about staying there.
I don't think I'm going to request any particular room...just wait and see what we get and go from there!
Thanks again!

:wizard: We had the same concerns last summer when we were deciding which moderate to upgrade to. We had stayed at ASMo's our past 3 visits. We chose CBR and them were nervous about the negative comments we read. We couldn't have been happier with our decision. We loved CBR! It is so relaxing and beautiful. We loved it so much, we're going back in August!

No advice about CBR. Just wanted to say hi to a fellow dawg fan. Can't wait for football season to start. We live about an hour from Athens and go to all the home games.

We love CBR. We love the food court, gift shop, pools ,landscaping, transportation, everything.:goodvibes

I've stayed there twice and loved it. One time in Martinique 25 (perfect location) and once in Barbados 15 (about a 5 min walk to OPR). I just loved the tropical atmosphere.

When DS29 was young we always stayed at CBR and requested Martinique 26 locations (you didn't have to pay extra for locations back then but we would have anyway if requested). We had many absolutely wonderful vacations listening to the steel drum music and island sounds while feeding the birds outside OPR (yes, I know that today they frown on that but it sure was nice for the kids...).

Besides the atmosphere and friendly staff we especially liked the Marina. At the time they had a family plan that would allow everyone in the room to take out boats and bikes for the length of our stay for one very reasonable fee. DH and DS looked forward to it each year with great anticipation. Days spent at the resort were so much fun.

I heard last year that they still offered the same sort of length of stay family deal on marina and bike rentals but you'd have to inquire to be sure. If they do, it's a really great option to have...

We stayed at CBR for our honeymoon almost 15 years ago and we loved it. For our next trip 5 years later we tried ASMu, but we weren't crazy about it. During the trip we visited CBR and said that next time we're going back there, and 10 years later, we are! Can't wait to go back next month!

Last Feb. I travelled to Disney for the first time. After reading all the threads I decided to stay at CBR despite all the nagative things I heard about it (everything is too spread out, too much walking etc). I'm so glad we chose to stay there! We had so much fun! We were able to enjoy the resort, I loved the fact that every village had it's own pool, so it wasn't crowded. All the staff was helpful. Our room was clean everyday. We stayed in Martinique building 23 and enjoyed our short (and beautiful) walk to OPR. They had amazing food there for a food court! My brother loved their breakfasts (western omelette) and I had no complaints about any of the food. I think if you stay here you will enjoy it! For our next visit to Disney I want to try a different resort, but I am worried that we won't have as much fun as we would at CBR, the themeing there was amazing, I really felt like I was on vacation! Hope this helps! princess:

Thanks for the "shout out"...It's always nice to meet another Dawg fan here!! What part of GA are you in...can't be too far from me if you're only an hour from Athens! GOOO DAWGS!

Like everybody's already said, you should really enjoy your stay at the CBR. We have stayed there two years in a row and loved everything about it.

I think I have finally decided to stay at CBR in April '08! It will be 10 years since I've stayed here, but looking at all the great pictures and reading your advice has set the scales in favour of CBR. I have a great fondness for POR but knowing that CBR is just as spreadout and well landscaped, I'm going to be different this year ... solo and cruising the CBR!

we are staying at CBR in late august-early september, and are extermly excited! we are hoping to get a great room! they were all sold out of standard rooms, so we got upgraded to a water view room. We requested either jamica or aruba with a lake view room. We are hoping that by some magic (it is disney after all!) we wil have all our requets fulfilled.

We were hesitant too, but dang it, I have always wanted to stay there, so we switched our ressie from POP to CBR!! I am really looking forward to it!!

Have a great trip!!

Denise

P.S. GO DAWGS!!!!!:thumbsup2

We've stayed at CBR twice (2005 & 2006) and loved it both times. We want to branch out and try the other resorts, but we'd always be willing to head back to CBR. Beautiful and relaxing. You can click the link in our signature for some pictures that include CBR if you'd like.
